Ocellaris Photo Journal from day 1 to day 30

Day 30. More tail color, other than that, just bigger. Cloudy water due to bacterial bloom. My filter was not totally seeded yet.

Were did you get the filter and how do you have it hooked up?

yea those are the filters. They are the Pro III rated for 40 gallons. they are driven by a small air pump, though it was off so I could get good pictures of the clowns. I stop tinting the water after the rots are phased out.

The clowns in these pictures hatched on August 18th last year, so they are almost 11 months old. Their most recent pictures are on my breeding thread, they are the ones that are being sold to my LFS in batches of 12. I will post a current picture of my growout tank tomorrow, some of my clowns are over 2 inches already!

Growout today. 10 Days shy of 11 months for the older ones. The younger ones are about 3 months younger. The younger ones lack the black edge on their pectoral fins.

I have 2 misbars in grow out. Basically good oxygen levels and managing ammonia will lessen the misbars and flared gills.

they are tougher than you think, remember the ocean is not a peaceful environment. I use a bubble wand under the heater on one side and an air stone on the other. You don't want MEGA air bubble flow, but you do want enough to cause surface agitation on both sides of the tank. In my case I used the smallest whisper pump, one for each side.

Thanks that is were I have my bubble wand underneath the heater till yesterday and it broke so now I have two air stones in there.

When you say air stone on the other side is it one of the small air stones "round or rectangle" that sometimes comes two to a package or one of the small bar air stones that may be like 3-4" long?

the little ones that come in multi-packs that are typically colored blue. I also use those inside the sponge filter to get the smaller bubbles, so that it causes more water agitation at the top.

This is a very inspirational thread. Makes me want to spend more money and raise some of my own. But then i wouldnt know what to do with them if i were to successfully raise them. Hah. Great looking clowns! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks... I think I have plenty of those little air stones laying around. Just now need to order some of those sponges.
