Beautiful anemone. Though crispa isn't a natural host, I'll bet the ocellaris will eventually find it. Percs are natural symbionts with crispa, so that combo would be more likely.

Yeah I've been researching on these 2 lately but sigh, I guess both clownfish and anemone are not on the charts. Well I guess I just have to wait.. :( Hopefully one day... Anyway I am upgrading my light, ordered it 6 weeks ago from nanotuners, the picolamp 12.3, hopefully it will emit enough light for other corals and more for the anemone (:

my black occ just found my crispa. he was a tank raised and took a month to find it. funny thing is it still sleeps in the place it always has at night. in the corner under a rock ledge. but in the nem all day. also the nem is hosted with a anemone crab. they dont seem to bother each other.

Aww nice! :) Well thanks.. I just gotta be patient and I'll see what happens over time.. (: Both of em are lovely and I just can't wait until some magic happens :) CHeers guys

Just curious what charts you are referring to here. What comes to mind are the charts where species of anemone and compatible species of clownfish are listed. The charts I'm familiar with include both your inhabitants, they just say they aren't natural symbionts to one another:

http://www.fishlore.com/clownfishanemonechart.htm

According to the doc in the FAQ
Heteractis crispa (long tentacle, LTA, leathery, or milk)
A. akindynos
A. bicinctus
A. chrysopterus
A. clarkii
A. ephippium
A. latezonatus
A. leucokranos
A. melanopus
A. omanensis
A. perideraion
A. polymnus
A. sandaracinos
A. tricinctus

But, and i say but, i see pics of combos contradicting the FAQ all the time, and if you search out your ocellaris and what anemone they will host with you find conflicts all over the place in other FAQs. I think that in the aquarium setting, if that is the only anemone there that increases the likely hood they will host on it because they have no other choices, and or there is no competition for it. Like Entacmaea quadricolor (bulb-tentacle, or BTA) is not listed for A. ocellaris but i see pics all the time of the two together and i have seen them hosting at a LFS.

Combos for A. ocellaris are listed in most places as
Stichodactyla gigantea (gigantic or carpet)
Heteractis magnifica (magnificent, ritteri, or skunk)
Stichodactyla mertensii (merten's, or spotted-base carpet)
which as far as i can tell are some of the most expensive and challenging of anemones to keep.

That site lists Saddle Carpet Anemone (Haddon's Sea Anemone) Stichodactyla haddoni as a possible combo and i have read in a lot of places they are in the same difficulty category as BTAs. It also says BTAs for A. ocellaris.

Nice list tho.. well the charts were like the natural symbionts that they normally talk about. It's just that I've never heard of crispas hosting ocellaris before (:

I just wish all the FAQs would jive, it makes picking a anemone stressful, i want a BTA because it the "easiest" of the anemones so i have read, and I like the idea that they can split which is awesome. Then some FAQs say BTAs don't host A. ocellaris which is the fish i have cause they are my favorite, and some say they do.

I totally understand what you mean... Sigh, but I guess, for me, sometimes its worth taking the risk and hoping that the outcome would be a good one.. :)

Here is my ocellaris pair in their crispa. The anemone has been in the tank for 8 years, the clowns have lived in it for nearly 5 years. They have been spawning for 3-4 years.

My goodness, that is so beautiful!! now that's the exact thing that I want for my tank.. :( But nonetheless, awesome pictures and beautiful anemone too!

thanks - I wish my crispa was as purple as yours looks -- it's fantastic! But no complaints, mine has been a model citizen and even survived a powerhead shredding after I first got it.
