Guys, look what I did in my Octo Ext 160 to quiet it:

just have the red demon pw. works great.i had 2 ppw, first one keyway broke off & replacement always had startup issues & finally wouldn`t run at all. red demon has been running since sunday, no issues so far. and seems to me a little better then the purple. starts up everytime without any problems. pins on the red are twice as tall or more then the purple or stock.

They know them as light diffuser panels. Used on flourescent lights used in stores, offices, etc. You will need to cut them to size.

I would say that it would be just right. I have one on my 125 with 20g sump and 10g fuge, pry 125-135 total volume, it also has a bb3000 pump with mesh on it. I have 12 fish and lots of corals. I would like to try a skimmer with a smaller neck to see what happens. I think this skimmer skims everything out fast and then I have to adjust it wetter and wetter to get it to skim.

Yeah, look in the lighting section where the bulbs and sockets are and you should be able to find it easily. Shouldn't run you more than $10 for a 4' x 3' sheet last time I bought some.

I just got my red demon pin wheel last week from reef specialty, I love it. No start up problems what so ever.

Just bought an Octopus Extreme 200, been running for around 24 hours. It is unbelievably noisy. I have read that there may be some noise during the break-in period, but this seems way too loud. The sound is a constant but intermittant sort of buzzing and seems to be coming from the area of the pump/skimmer body interface.
I am beginning to think there may be an issue with the Sicce pump, has anyone experience this?
(sorry if this has been covered, I did perform a search).

I know this was a while ago but. I did email the manufacture and they have one like on some of there new skimmers but it was going to be $80. Shipped to the USA. Could not find the metric valve in the states that's why I made an adapter.jetfixr said:

I current have the Octo Extreme 200, but am thinking about upgrading to either the
SRO 2000/3000 or the XP Cone 2000/3000.
Not sure if the bubble blaster by itself in the 2000 series will be a significant upgrade or if I need to go to the 3000. I have a 120 gal display, 45 gal frag, and 75 gal sump pushing about 200 gals with a fairly heavy fish load.
Any thoughts on the SRO body design vs. the cone? Both use the same bubble blaster.
Price is the same for the SRO or the Cone within each series, 2000 or 3000.

I would call reef specialty and find out if they have it in stock. Thats what I did and got mine shipped in less than a week. Premium aquatics was out of stock when I had ordered it.

I just ordered a red demon today. It's back ordered 3-4 weeks and 20 people are on the list. I hope it's worth it. I'm just running the stock pw. Does anyone have to constantly adjust the water level ? Btw I don't have a baffel to maintain water level in this sump. I am building a new sump. For the people running the red demon how high is the water level in there sump?
