Official Borbonius Anthias Thread

I ordered another from NYAquatic yesterday. It showed up today and was incredibly small and looked to be almost dead, though not completely dead. I followed the acclimation steps provided by the company, but the fish died during drip acclimation.

I called and emailed them so I sure hope they take care of me. I even took pictures of the dead fish, emailed them to them, and offered to send a water sample.

Has anyone ever dealt with anything like this and NYAquatic before?

Michael at NY Aquatic was easy to work with and will be crediting me for the fish. I ordered another today to have shipped Thursday. Should be good.

Picked up my first borbonius. It's been hiding since putting it in towards the back. Not eating yet either. I'll keep everyone posted on how it does. Here's a video of my cleaner shrimp cleaning it:

I sold my borb it was to aggresive with my fairy wrasses
It killed 3 fairy wrasses and chased a clown out the tank

When I first put the borbonius in the tank, my purple tang tried to strike it with its tail. Now it's being left alone. It started eating some mysis shrimp this morning. I always get nervous adding expensive fish to the tank.

Oh wow, I'm surprised that it's fast enough to catch a wrasse. I've seen mine try but the wrasses just duck into the rocks.

My big male was doing the same; not to my Cirrhilabri but to my Fatheads. Liked my Fatheads more so I took the Borb out. At the time I had a harem of 5 Borb's and I believe that this particular fish was just protecting his gf's. My male Fathead has a similar personality now, but not being the size of my male Borb he does not do any damage...

I was lucky to pick up 10 of these guys for a really great price. I could not resist them being 1 inch in size. All are doing great and eating. They were one of the easiest anthias to train to eat.

There's a lot available lately.

I dont think I will buy any.

I had a couple for a 2 years +.
Both died same way, popped eye.
Impossible to treat them as they seek shelter and I cant catch them.

They also grew and became monsters.

So yesterday it was day 2 and he ate rods food, not much though. I got him for $189.99 at my lfs btw. Still hides a lot.

it's been one week and it's still alive and eating well but it mostly hides out in the caves or perches upside down on the rocks like this:

male anthias in genetal take more time to eat and typically more shy, i try to avoid purchasing males and get females and let one turn male for this reason.

So last month I ordered a borbonius anthias from NYAquatic.com. The fish died within maybe an hour or so of delivery during drip acclimation. The fish he sent me was also about 3/4 of an inch long and looked like it had never eaten a think while at the store. Stomach was completely sucked in and the fish looked terrible. I called NYAquatic and Michael over there agreed to send me a replacement, but I would be responsible for the shipping fee again (so at this point I was out the cost of the fish plus two shipping charges of $50 each). The second fish was delayed in shipping via Fedex. Fedex told me that because it was a live animal and they do have shipping guarantees, that the shipper would be able to file a claim with them. I called NYAquatic right away to tell them what had happened and to hurry and get the claim in motion. A week later he returned my phone message and told me I was basically out of luck and that there is no guarantee on replacement fish and that fedex lied to me about him being able to make a claim (which is absolutely not true). So now the whole thing is being disputed via my bank because this guy is insane. I would not recommend anyone order from him no matter how enticing a sale he might have.

Anyway, I went to the aquarium and they had a nice sized Blotchy so I picked it up. I am not doing mail order on fish anymore, it is not worth the risk. Let the Reef Shops take the chances on the health of their fish because they pay a lot less for the fish than you do, so why would you just accept whichever fish they send you anyway? I made the mistake and won't do it again.

So yeah, here is the nice big beautiful Blotchy I ended up with.

+10

I ordered five anthias from NY aquatics, everyone of them died in QT. Mine also looked like they had not eaten. The guy was rude and not helpful. I now too have a claim with my credit card over the transaction.

^I actually have my claim via Paypal, but the second I sent him the notice that I was disputing it he called me a complete fraud and told me I had just cut myself off from him essentially. Honestly you dispute this kind of stuff when the vendor A)offers the service as Paypal is on his site, and B) Is obviously dragging his feet and not trying to help anyway.

He is VERY rude and definitely does not put the customer first. I will probably make a vendor review for him/ NY Aquatic. Please feel free to back me up when I do. I will post a link. Oh and the new one I got is about 8 times larger, much healthier (duh, its alive) and cost the same as his did.

me and every one i know also had bad experience with nyaquatic i don't think he knows how to ship properly i would just stay away from nyaquatics
