Official Innovative Marine Owners Thread

Anyone have experience with the Minimax mid size reactor? I just got it in the mail today.

For starters, does anyone know how to get the pump to stay on the bottom? it falls out immediately as i pick up the reactor.

Also from the manual, IM claims that it will fit in 2 spots, they are really really wrong. It can only fit in one spot, and that spot unfortunately is being used by my intank refugium.
(I planned on using the spot on the right, if looking at this picture)

I'd say I can hang it in the middle where the return is, but back to problem one, the pump will not stay in. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

This is a great thread. I don't have any modifications to my little Nuvo 8 gallon besides a little sprayer bar, mainly because everything has been perfect as it is. I don't like the light too much though. I just ordered an RBTA that is either going in my nano or my 125. Would the RBTA survive under the standard 8 Watt LEDs? If not, does anyone recommend other (CHEAP!) lights that i can put over a small tank light mine that would support it? I am mainly going for a zoa/paly/mushroom tank but an anemone in the middle would be awesome.

I have the same thing going on with my reactor, the bottom fell out and blew GFO all over my tank. I'm going to try some pipe tape to thicken the top of the pump...

I contacted IM, they are sending me a new adapter, hopefully that will work. I still wish the chambers were the same size so i don';t have to put the reactor in the return chamber

Spoke with Stephen, he as super professional and very nice. instead of just sending me a new adapter, he is also sending me a brand new Minimax Midsize nano. Innovative Marine gets an A++++ in my book for customer service and standing behind their produce.

Your saying the desktop 7302 Midsize reactor will not fit in the second chamber in the 38 IM?

besides the over flow chambers and the return chamber, the only one the mid size reactor will fit in is the one on the right, when facing the tank. The problem is that is the only chamber the InTank Refugium will fit in as well.

Good to know thanks. Thought they were the same size.

Thanks...i measured and youre right!
My 38 return chambers plan...
looking at the tank from the front...
Right large return...In-Tank Basket with 50 micron filter floss and purigen and matrix carbon bags.
Right small ...Midsize IM Reactor w gfo
Left large return...CAD Lights new PLS 50 Nano skimmer (arrives Friday)
Left small cobalt 150 watt heater...mounted sideways
Should have everything in by Saturday ill shoot a pic

Sounds like a good plan! Let me know how that CAD protein skimmer is, looks great! I only have the 100w cobalt heater, it's a great piece of equipment. With the lights and the pumps and the summer time, my tank has been holding nicely without the heater having to kick in. It's nice to have the digital read out to see what temp it reads. Hopefully the 100w will be enough come winter time.

More pictures ladies and gentlemen, I am thinking about second tank, would love to see your aquascaping etc.

Here is my IM38 / Radion Pro setup.

Tank has been up since July 2012 and Radion was hung back in May. So far both the tank and light have surpassed my expectations. Only thing I would change, and probably will, is to buy/make a new stand and replace IM skimmer. I've had nothing but micro-bubbles and it's 6mos old. IM replaced the venturi and pump and it still blows tons of bubbles.

I'd like to find a skimmer rated around 75-100g and still fit in the rear chamber or hang on the back. I'm kind of interested in RO HOB super skimmer or the RO HOB 1000s. If anyone has one, let me know your thoughts.

Great looking tank BusterTB!

I love my Tunze 9004, works great and fits nicely in the first chamber on the left (looking at the tank). I have pictures in my build thread of skimmer location.

At what % brightness do you run your radion pro? I have my gen 2 set at 65%.

Thank you ap.
I have mine cranked up pretty high. I run them at a peak of 85% about 8" ATWL on the high growth setting. I switched over from an AI Vega that was peaking close to 100%, so most of my coral have made the adjustment without any problems. I have a few chalices that have slightly bleached, but a shaded relocation should get them back in shape.

Thanks ebay.

Fish: Phantom Clown
Davinci Clown
Bangai Cardinal
Lubbocks Wrasse
Sunburst Anthias

Filtration: Stevie T media rack w/ floss, chemi pure elite and a small bag of gfo
Stevie T floss holder and Chaeto in heater column.
IM Skimmer (currently offline because I cant stand the microbubbles)
