Official Innovative Marine Owners Thread

For people with the InTank fuge in their Nuvos, what do you put in there besides chaeto? Do you put live rock in there as well? Sorry for the noob question. Just curious, I'm still learning about all this great stuff. I figured I'd ask this here, but let me know of I should ask it elsewhere. Thanks!

I just have chaeto. I don't think the tank is big enough to put extra live rock in there and it could be a trap detritus. It is easier to clean in a sump style system.

Just installed my new PLS 50 in my Nuvo 38. I had high expectations coming from a failed experience with the IM SkimMate (miserable actually)
A few initial observations...
-Took 5 mins only because I read the directions...the default adjusted height from CAD Lights was perfect.
-skimmed immediately
-No bubbles in the tank...none.
-Very quiet...a very low rumble from the bubble percolating but not annoying.
-Easy adjustment. Set it once and haven't touched it again.
-Solidly built and engineered.
-And good looking skimmer for the nuvos...IMO!

How are you and your corals liking the innovative marine dual strip?

Nuvo 16 lighting help please

Nuvo 16 lighting help please

A few months ago I downsized from a 120g with metal halides to a Nuvo 16 with the stock LED's (2 8w skkye lights). So far the skkye LED's are not really providing enough for my corals and my RTBA, so I am looking to upgrade and not really sure where to go. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. :spin3:

^^^^You could go with a Kessil 150 Ocean blue 15k. Razor Nano might also fit.
You dont think the kessil 150 ocean blue will be to much? I have found a person in my area who has the light and goosneck for only $150, but I was told that on my 16g it would be to much light since it doesnt have the dimmer option....

Considering a Pico 4 from IM..Truth be told considering whether I should get back into the hobby at all after many years out.

My goals are to keep this simple for my kids and I to enjoy, to keep expenses down, and not add too much maintenance responsibilities to my life.

When I left the hobby, these Pico tanks were somewhat of a cautionary item, due to heat and nitrate issues. Todays lighting and tanks seem to have resolved that. But I want to know from the experts what I should look out for. I would just want maybe a clown goby, or clown fish and some soft corals.

Thanks for any insight.

The Kessil's have a good punch I put mine on my 120 tank and it caused my yuma to move after 4 hours and it left a baby, one of the biggest problems with the some of the Kessils is that they do not dim. I currently have it on my QT tank that is a 20 gallon tall tank fills that tank up just fine.
Getting a Led light that dims would be a huge plus, not sure what your budget is? The Nano razor would be great option also, Reefbreeders are also a great light.
You could also look into the buildmyleds they are in Austin Texas and built here in the US, they are a strip type led kinda like Reefbrites.

So after doing some more research I really am digging the Maxspect Nano Razor R420r. My only concern is that my Nuvo 16 is actually 24" long and it appears as if the coverage for the Maxspect nano is only 20". I was thinking if I raised the light up a little bit it will be able to easily cover the 24" area. But then I found the evergrow IT120 which will easily cover my tank and probably have less shadowing since the lights would be more spread out more. However, then I have the concern that 120w is way to much for my little 16g tank. I know that you can dim the lights down, but if you dim them down to much wouldn't it then be decreasing the par value and the coverage span since the lights would be dimmed down so much? Once I get my lights upgraded I do not plan to upgrade them again for a very long time so I need to make the correct choice the first time. Also I am hoping to have a clam in my tank so I want to ensure I have enough light getting down to the bottom of my tank. Any info or thoughts at this point would be so greatly appreciated.

Yes, the AI nano is super nice looking! I am hoping to spend less then that but it is very tempting!!! Thank you for the info :)

Actually I must have been looking at the AI full version the nano is super nice and not bad priced for what you get! Has anybody used the AI nano or Maxspect nano?

I been looking for a maxspect nano for cheap also, I've seen it on a couple of tanks in the forum and it looks really good.
