Official Innovative Marine Owners Thread

Very nice Lude. How long have you had your tank running? I think that is the cleanest sand bed I have seen.

It's going on four months. I do 5 gallon water change every week and do a slight vacuuming of the top of the sand bed to remove any waste. Very light without disturbing sandbed.

Toadstool, the first addition to my 38 Nano.

micro bubbles

micro bubbles

This is how I resolved the micro bubble issue with the IM nano skimmer in my 38. The skimmer is in the right compartment and I placed a foam filter pad (any brand would do) in the center compartment. It has to be a tight fit front to back and against the overflow divider to "catch and pop" the bubbles coming from the skimmer.

I decided to go with the maxspect razor 120W and absolutely love, love LOVE it! I am glad I did not go with the nano version of lights seeing as my tank is the nuveo 16 so it is 24" long. I would not have gotten the needed spread. In the few weeks I have owned this light though I am already getting new colors to come out in my corals and my anemone is doing so much better. Probably the best investment for me so far.

So last night my Nuvo 38 decided to spring a leak on the bottom where the side meets the bottom seal. Emptied everything into buckets. found the leak and sealed it up. Curren;t waiting for it to cure. Praying this doesn't happen again. Could have been even worse of a disaster.

Nice to hear that you got your light Congrats on a great choice.

I've had the 38 with 92 watt led for 2 years to great success with sps and lps. Unfortunately, 4 consecutive led's have burned out and I'm a bit worried about decreased par.

Anyone know which variety of led's were used? Where can I order a few?
Can I solder them myself on this fixture?

Thanks in advance,

Adam

So i had my first mini disaster with my 5 month old Nuvo 38. It decided to spring a leak at the bottom. Luckily i found it in time to drain everything and silicone the whole bottom. Holding water again.

dear innovative marine, these types of posts should not be happening. I've seen way too many of these.

Finally, I found the IM owners thread! BUT... Only 1-2 posts of IM-8 owners??

I have the Nuvo 8. Had to tear it down during this deployment, but it will be back up and running in a couple months when I get home. (Pics to follow) That said..... ANYONE, mod their Nuvo8 yet? Pics of ANY Nuvo8??

Subscribed.~!

Tank looks amazing! Did you make that screen top? I am just using eggcrate for the time being but I would like a screen top more like that. I have a very similar setup. Razor (10,000k though, wish i would have gone with the 16,000k) MP-10...

What else are you running? What skimmer etc? Thanks! Your tank looks better than mine lol.

No major mods, but I have a Nuvo 8 and did the refugium in the sump and bought the custom caddy gadget to do that. Put Chaeto in the caddy and filled the area where you put your heater with Chaeto..It's nice having a fuge but now I have an issue with crap in the water all the time. I need to figure out a way to floss it.

People need to know that doing the refugium in the sump in these reducing your mechanical and your ability to polish the water.

Thanks. Yes made it myself. Very easy to do. Took me around 30min. with some supplies from Home Depot and screen ordered from BRS. LOVE the clean look and no more sweaty looking rim. I'm running the Tunze 9004 skimmer. I think it's the PERFECT skimmer for this tank because it works great and you can't see it when you put it in one of the back corner chambers. I just picked up two rainbow clams and a bunch of zoas from reefaPalooza I'll be posting pics soon.

+1 on the Tunze 9004.

interested in seeing pictures, especially the clams.

This forces the water flow to go through the sponge before returning to the display.

I just picked up an IM Nuvo Nano 24 for my wife. I am putting an AI Vega over it for lightning, but I am undecided on skimmers.

Many people do not seem to like the IM skimmers, and IM does not list which model Skimmate works on the Nano 24 anyway. I was leaning towards a Tunze model, but I would like confirmation from someone running it that the 9002 or 9004 actually fit in the compartments on this tank.

Anyone with experience want to chime in?
