The racks take up the entire chamber allowing very little bypass while the IM basket only takes up half of the chamber and is set up for sponge media and not granulated media(most ppl prefer)

Wow I just saw the whole website on the laptop I was on my phone before. these look awesome! Just one question will the innovative marine skimmer and reactor still fit with both these in there if I bought the value deal with media and fuge basket? Any recommendations on a fuge light (cheap) I really don't see my self buying the one innovative marine sells when its just a couple leds?

If you want a media reactor or a skimmer your gonna have to sacrifice one of the two chambers. I have one media rack and a tunze 9004

Is there any way I could use the media rack and one of the areas for a fuge with just cheato, what if I put the skimmer in the middle?

I pulled my reactor because it was stripping my water so bad I was dosing mag and cal like crazy. Put a fuge in the spot the reactor was in and my corals are loving life.

I also run the in tank media bakery and fuge basket in case you were wondering, and a tunze 9004 skimmer. I had the im skimmer and it sucks lol

Hi RC, I'm Mark and I'm new to the sw game. I've had fresh water tanks for 30yrs or more. I've been researching sw and have been putting it off due to the expense of starting up. Well, I got a 38G aio with an IM skimmer. I set everything up on Saturday with 15lbs of live rock and 20lbs of dry. Now I'm waiting for it to cycle. Planning on adding some coral and a clearner crew next week. Very excited and it's become a family project. Still getting a fair bit of mircro bubbles from the skimmer. It's in the far right overflow area and I have a sponge in the next section to try and arrest the bubbles. It's helping, but still getting bubbles... I'm open to any comments or suggestions... Thanks

New IM owner as well. Just got the 30 and will be cleaning up the tank and doing a leak test this week. I am very interested in the fuge setup that people have. If anyone has a picture and can describe each compartment that would be great. Also, if people are using granulated media if they can describe their setup as well. I will be getting the upgraded caddy. I am absolutely a SW noob so any help is appreciated.

My thought is as follows: skimmer in one filter media chamber, maybe a reactor but not right now, IM ATO (unless others have a better suggestion) and then a fuge or granulated media in the other chamber.

I also have the 18" Skkye which won't be upgraded for awhile.

I also have a hydro 425 and am wondering if I should get another? I haven't bothered with the spin rites unless you guys tell me otherwise.

Thanks for any help/direction. I have read this entire thread.

Pulled my IM Nuvo 8 out of the closet yesterday. Running a Tunze Osmolator nano for it. I think I found a skimmer that will fit too!

I'm going for zoas and palys mostly, a clown goby, mini carpet anemone and some sexy shrimp. Anyone mod their lights? Or other mods?

Aquascape isn't complete. Just put some rocks in there from my DT sump.

Im really serious on purchasing the new fusion 40g in a couple weeks. Im trying to find someone who has one and get a review from an actual person and not a retailer.

Hey all, I have a few quick questions to (I believe) all Nuvo owners!

I am interested in picking up one of the new Fusion 40g as my first saltwater tank, but I have a quick questions.

My first one is in regards to how much water the tanks hold.

I know there's like, the sump, behind the tank so does that count as part of the 40g? I assume it does. When the 38g was the only one available, I assumed that it was 30g in the main tank (where the fish and corals will be), and 8g go in the back.

So basically, the new Fusion the overall system has 40g of water in it.

Additionally, I read a few "meh" reviews on the official Skimmer, so I'll probably look at higher quality ones, but I assume I have a limited selection since the space in the back is small. Does anyone have a list of ones that fit?

Also, I prefer the rectangular look of the 30g one, but it seems so...small in terms of water quantity. I prefer the 40g since it has more water, but only if they had it between the 24" and 36" . A nice 30" wide 40g one would be sick.

Nuvo 39 up and running since early January '14. Finally got our Maxspect Razor lights the end of February and it made quite a difference. Still tweaking them though. Running 2 Hydor Sart wave pumps with the Pump Controller and that's working good. Also the Hydor Slim Skim skimmer. Everything seems to be doing well right now although the Elegance is still trying to find it's "happy place" in the tank. Various Zoas, Pulsing Xenia, Torch, Duncans, Hammer and Frogspawn. Favia frag I(will it ever grow??) and Wellsophylia on the sand bed.

Newly formed reef sighting in Alameda!

Newly formed reef sighting in Alameda!

Hi all,

Here is what I am starting up. Its been running for about a month now and doing well so far. I decided to start this tank for my son (20 months old)...here comes the cliche..He absolutely loves Finding Nemo, so it was the perfect excuse to get back into the hobby. We have 2 clownfish, Nemo and Dave (Nemo is the orange and white one and Dave is the orange and white one).

IM Nuvo 16
Reefkeeper Lite controller
Kessil A360w on the Reefkeeper ALC
Tunze osmolator nano ATO
I have the IM skimmer and reactor also but not exactly sure what their future is.
Eheim auto feeder
20lb live sand
(formerly) live rock from my old tank that I had kept in the basement for just this purpose.

I have had to deal with customer service at three different places so far; Marine Depot, Innovative Marine, and Digital Aquatics.
Marine Depot gets an A+
Innovative Marine gets a C-
Digital Aquatics gets an A.

If anyone is interested in details I will be happy to provide.

link to pictures below...I don't have the desire to figure out how to shrink the pics for direct upload at the moment, maybe later...
