Official Innovative Marine Owners Thread

The InTank Media Basket for the JBJ 28 Nano fits perfectly in the Nuvo 38. The media basket that came with JBJ is the same exact one that comes with the Nuvo so anything that made for the JBJ will fit the Nuvo. I heard the guy that started Innovative Marine came from JBJ.

Great info, thanks! I wonder why InTank didn't mention this? Strange..

Looks great, very nice.

I had to lol when I saw the stool with the hand towel draped over it. I have the exact same thing at my house.

You running chaeto in one of the back chambers?

Thanks Yes, I am using the InTank media basket right now but I am making a basket that almost the size of the chamber 4x4x12.

Awesome setup! Where did you get that mounting system for you AI light??

The mounts are two AI Nano mounting brackets that I have modified a little to fit. It works out great, if I need to move the light for more access I can just slide forward or back. The way I modified it was so I could still use the glass top or the Lexan top that I have made with a feeder access in it.

They may not even know it yet. I noticed the baskets were the same exact baskets as my JBJ in the store and the owner proceded to tell me about the owner of Innovative Marine being a previous CEO of JBJ.

Hello,

I just brought home a Nuvo 38. I'm using Fiji sand as my substrate. I've filled the main part of the tank with water only to realize that it appears water is somehow seeping into the rear compartment of the tank. I've also noticed it seems that a very small amount of my Fiji sand has somehow made it back there as well.

Has anyone else noticed this when setting up there 38? Should I see about returning the tank or is this something that others have experienced with this setup.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I had the same exact thing happen to me. My LFS gave me some black silicon and I reasealed everything myself. I did not want to haul the tank all the way to the store.

Hi Everyone!

I've had my tank for a couple weeks now and I love this tank. My setup is:

ATI Dimmable Sunpower 6 bulb 24 inch (4 Aqua Blue Plus, 2 KZ Fiji Purple)
Tunze 9002 skimmer
Hagen heater
reef rubble live rock in the overflow
IM rotating returns

My goal is to breed Banggais using a breeding pair I got from my dad. Right now I'm trying a larger group just to see what happens. I expect there will be some fighting over time so maybe I'll need to take out the non-mated cardinals in a few weeks. My skimmer works great, but my dad had to cut the magnet holder part off the side to make it fit. Too bad I didn't know about the Tunze 9004 because maybe that would fit better, but as you can see from the pictures the 9002 is working just fine. I have to clean it daily and can control the skimmate from wet to dry with no problem. Also the ATI fixture fits perfectly over the top and heat has not been a problem. Maybe in the summer that will change, but I'll worry about that later. Right now I'm just really enjoying my new tank!

Very nice setup! I noticed it looks as though you aren't using the media baskets, is that just live rock rubble in the right compartment?

Well I decided not to use the media baskets because I am trying to be as close to the natural ocean as possible. By using the Berlin system with live rock and a small skimmer, the good bacteria on the rock eats the nitrates and other bad bugs in the tank. The skimmer is only in place so that it can get what the rocks missed. And it is working really well!! I have not had one problem with this process yet :)

For 8 gallon black Nuvo owners: have any of you upgraded stock lighting? Suggestions? Will only be keeping softies, lsps, zoas, anthelia, mushrooms, gsp, clove etc. 4 mos and stock doesn't seem enough? Anyone else?

Noobie much appreciation.

Maybe look at picking up a used 30W Skkye light? That seems to be overkill, IMO, but people might be unloading one cheap.

Thanks. why overkill? It's hard to find any LED parameters to go by. Used to be so many watts per gallon but after researching that's pretty much out the window with LED's. Was thinking of 30 watt skkye or for quick and less expensive, another 8 watt like watt is on there....

Finally have rock in my setup and it's cycling. Not much to look at but thought I'd post a picture.

I swapped out the stock return pump for a Tunze Silence 1073.02 and it works great! If you want something more reliable I'd suggest doing the same, plus it's moving more water than the stock pump with no issues.

I did the same with my 38.
