Oh YEAH! Let the fun begin....

Jeremy - woohoo! Give us details; I'm guessing 5' (long) x 3' (wide) x 2' (tall) = 224g

Yep, subtract out the 3/4" acrylic(1.5" per dimension), and I'm at 200g. External overflow with 3 drains. There are 4 returns drilled into the top frame, but I won't be using them. I will likely drill 1 or 2 return holes in the black panel near the top, and then use several powerheads on both sides of the black panel for flow, alternating from side to side. Still working on the details, but need to get the stand started and buff out the acrylic.

Looks great, the acrylic that i had was older, never used but older. I had to peel off the stuck on paper for hours. I know your pain

Looks good Jeremy. I guess this puts a dent into your schedule with helping me consolidate my second tank. Oh well :lmao:

No, that was just after hours of cleaning. Man, that overflow was gnarly!!!! I still need to get ahold of an orbital and some novus to buff it out.

Was wondering about that, looks great even before the novus (though see scratches). You must have been seriously using some elbow grease! Big tanks ride again!

Framing started today. This is the bottom and will have a sheet of ply sunken into the outer frame:

The upper, waiting for it's ply top:

And the legs, triples on the corners and duals for the sides:

Now I just have to wait to make the HD run for the plywood until the wife get's back. I don't think the kiddies would appreciated 2 sheets of ply on their heads :D

Yeah, that would suck as well. Did that once and found out to never leave the paper on again...

Nah! I'm good at multi-tasking :D Well, maybe... LOL

The scratches aren't too bad. The worst are near the bottom, as expected, but the black panel is a little rough and the bottom is pretty well torched. Good thing I'll have sand in the tank.

Nice!:bounce3:

Good to see you back in with both feet!

Man...u are not wasting any time!!

Nope, but now I have to bring the pieces into the house to put it all together, as it won't fit through the door once assembled. Had to account for being able to disassemble it in the future. Will soon be on to sealing the lower part of the stand, but then will slow down for buffing of the tank itself and removal of the 70g. I've already borrowed a stock tank for the break down, and got some extra rock cookin'.
Still need to come up with a canopy design, and the skin for the stand, though it will likely be awhile out before I take on the skinning project. Also working on the sump design. I did get a free 36" sump, though it's pretty tore up. Will still need to decide on what I'm gonna do there as well.

man, you are moving fast...i like it! looks great jer, was nice to catchup the other night :D

The stand is complete, minus the skinning to be done shortly. Had to put it together in the house, as it's too big to fit through a door. Had to make sure that it'll be easy to disassemble in the future, in which case I will have to unscrew the skinning, then the posts. The top and bottom of the stand will remain solid pieces. Painted everything and sealed up the bottom to act as a basin to catch any spills/overflows. I'm also going to use some spray flex seal for the bottom tray :D
The pad on top is smaller than the overall stand size, but is the same size as the tank. Behind the pad, I will be drilling the overflow/return/cord line holes in the top of the stand, so everything will drop from the back of the tank and disappear into the stand immediately, keeping everything nice and tidy.

Oh, and the majority of the scratches have been buffed out of the tank :D A couple I will either leave or wet sand later when I've got water in the tank.

Where is the electrical socket? Any dedicated breakers planned?

It's on the wall behind where the tank will go. No dedicated breakers, but this will be a relatively low power consuming 225g. The only real additional draw would be a 3rd 250w halide, if I decide to use it, and a pair of vho's. I know I can run an iron and my large shop vac at the same time on this circuit with everything on, so I think I'll be ok. Also, I won't have my halides popping on at the same time anymore, as I will have the controller phasing them on one at a time, so that'll decrease the startup draw. If not................well, I'll cross that bridge when I get there. :D

The equipment list is being finalized, but looks something like this:

Return pump: Water Blaster HY 5000 or 7000, will also feed the fuge and carbon/gfo reactors

Skimmer: Yet to be determined, but will have a single, low draw pump

Flow: 2x Sicce Voyager HP 4000, both placed on the black panel, alternating flow
Tunze MP40, and flow to be reviewed in the future.

Cooling: Fans....

Lighting: 2x or 3x 250w Radiums in Lumenarc Mini's on SLS Galaxy ballasts
2x 5' VHO Super actinics
maybe a few LED accents that I've got on hand

Controller: Neptune Apex Lite

Supp: 2 part dosing, possibly automated down the road

ATO: I'll likely go with the Avast Marine unit that I can hook up to the Apex

Sump: YTBD

Also still need to get my hands on a fair bit of sand...

Uuuuuggggghhhhhhhh............And why did I want to do this again???

The wife wants me to reuse the rubber backed mats that currently reside beneath the 70g/25g/sump setup, and I can't move my desk into it's final position to get it out of the way(and make it so I can walk around the 225g in it's final location) until I get the 70g out of the way. Sooo, down they come.:uhoh3:
All of the corals and critters now reside in Mark's stock tank, something I've borrowed and used more than Mark himself I think(Thanks again Mark:D) The water and sand has been removed, but now I find myself sore and tired and not really wanting to lug those tanks out of the house tonight. I think that'll have to wait until tomorrow.
Next step(after I've moved those things out of the way) .... Bringin' in the beast. If anyone is gonna be around Roseville tomorrow and wants to stop by for 5 minutes of tank luggin', let me know. Really only need 1 person, as the tank is not that heavy, but it'll need to be spun on it's side and carried about 50 feet and up onto the stand. Then I'll have to spin the desk out of the way(again), and move the corals and critters into the 225g. It'll only be a partially running system at that point, with no sump or primary water flow, but it'll let me get the stock tank out of the way to flip the desk for the last time. I'll have to rig up a temporary canopy/light mounting arrangement for the short term. Wow....Still so much to get accomplished!!!
