Oh YEAH! Let the fun begin....

If you don't mind answering:

What was the total cost for the stand materials?
Better yet, what was the total out of pocket to get this going minus sand, livestock, rock?

Awesome build :)

Thanks. That is the question most of us don't want to think about ;)

Stand/canopy lumber: $60
skinning: $100/not yet finished
trim: ytbd

Lighting: none(already had all lighting)
VHO Actinic bulbs- $30/each x 2

Return pump: WaterBlaster HY7000 $219 - 11% discount

In tank pumps: 2x Sicce HP4000's normally $188/each - (11% BF discount)
1x Vortech MP40wES ($150 to upgrade) will be selling this, not needed

Skimmer: Bubble Magus 220A - $269
Swabbie for skimmer - $150 - 40% discount(don't have yet)
Skimmate locker - $150 - 60% discount(don't have yet)

Sump: 40breeder - $60

Plumbing: none/already had

ATO: AvastMarine - $70 - 15% discount(don't have yet)
ATO pump: BRS 50mL doser $60

Dosing pumps: 2xBRS dosers - $60/each
Dosing containers: $8/ea

Controller: Neptune Apex Lite (bought before this upgrade began) $370
Neptune Lunar Simulator w/5 LED's - $99
Wireless game adapter - $40

Refugium - none(Thanks Tim:D)
Fuge LED light - $35

Heater - Jager 300w heater(as mine died) - $36

I think that about covers it. Now if I can just get those other tanks sold I can pay for most of this stuff :headwally:

Otherwise...

1 Billion dollars:spin2:

I think as the tank matures you'll wish you had the Vortech.

That was my original plan, but the place that I would want the pump to go, which is the middle of the black panel, is not Vortech conducive. The overflow takes up that entire area. I'd put it on one of the sides, but I prefer the alternating flow pattern I have created with the 2 Voyagers. Sooooo, it's too much money sunk into a pump that I don't want to use where it can be used. If in the future I need another pump, I'll likely just pick up another Voyager. Oh, wait, I just did :D Found a used one here, so I'll have a 3rd for just in case...

Now I just need to get some $ back out of the Vortech...

Sorry, I can't pm you back because of less than 10 posts restriction. Anyway, I have to pass on the offered. Thanks though. Good luck.

Well, we're 1 month into the process. The canopy now has all 3 sides on it, which fold up for easy access. I still need to trim it, and will need to cut a couple of vent holes in the top before summer gets here...
I haven't done much on the stand skinning yet. Been taking a little bit of a break. I did get the Apex fully programmed after a bit of difficulty getting my laptop to communicate with it to update the firmware, but all is well. I also got the 2 BRS dosers online and active after getting ahold of another EB8 for the Apex. I also managed to get the frags all mounted and off of the sand bed. Here's a video as it sits today, complete with the reflection of the christmas tree lights and all:

Have the rose's moved at all since you've put them there? That's a great spot of they stay there!

Looks nice! I too am diggin on the anenome mountain. I would love to do something like that in my tank if I could just feel good about them staying put!

Nice placement of the corals. I think your mixed reef will look fantastic.
I like the "Twinkle, twinkle little stars....... " at the background. :-)

Nope. So far they've stayed put. I hope it stays that way, but if they try to leave the island I should have a chance to grab them.

That's the hope. I missed my nems too much not to try to keep them in 1 place. My only real concern is that I put them on the middle island, which has quite a bit of flow. The rocks against the back panel may have been the best choice flow wise though :(

Thanks, I hope so too. And I realized right after I started recording that I left the tree lights on, so you can see where I shifted to block them a bit at the beginning...

i look forward to seeing this in person man!

Any time my friend :D

1 word. AWESOME... How is that water blaster pump treating you?

LOVE it! Absolutely silent and puts out awesome flow. I'm feeding the fuge, carbon reactor, gfo reactor and a pair of 1" returns from it, and it's about as perfect a flow rate as I could ask for on this setup. It's almost like I planned it that way....:spin2:

Well, the last of my toys have come in....

As far as everything else goes.....well.....having fishy troubles. Everyone ended up with ich, then seems to have some form of fungus. Lost the Percs, Chocolate Tang, and Powder Blue...Been a rough week. The Flame and Purple tang don't look too hot, so they all got put into a QT with a little Cupramine. The Copperband is actually the healthiest of the lot. Go figure. Looks like I get to go fishless for a bit until everyone gets healthy. I planned on letting them all ride it out, as I've had more success with that in the past than in moving to QT, but as I'd already lost so many, and the Purple was heading downhill, decided to try QT.
Other than the fish, everything is doing great. A little algae popping up, but that's not unexpected with an accelerated build. Actually seeing polyp extension, which I haven't seen in months(corals don't seem to care for alk swings for some crazy reason).

My orange torch decided to spawn this evening. Here are a few shots where you can just see the eggs being released:

And a little video showing some of the action. You can see the eggs slowly being released from both heads, and a few floating around the tank.
