I went thru that for a while too with the vermitids. After awhile they just kind of went away. I have a few but not that many.

Sadly, I'm not certain I have the patience to take you up on the bet. I would likely loose count after 19,943:)

Are they harming anything? I've always heard they were good snails to have.

They are growing on everything. Snails, corals and tank walls. They irritate the SPS when they shoot out the webs. I'm not sure that they are actually bothering anything as much as me:)

If they keep reproducing, I'm just going to have red-spikey rocks that shoot out mucus webs:eek1:

I hear ya'll...I just haven't been able to get to it. I haven't cleaned the glass in over a week. :(

I am just very consumed by the project at our store and haven't gotten the mental material together to do pics. I also need to research Kalk reactor/stirrers, UV, and Ozone...

And larval rearing tanks :) Just helping out your list ;)

Yeah, I figured you would chime in. :D Although the specimens in the main system are thriving, I still do not have any larvae that I know of. I have not spent the effort to ensure that either. I would estimate that I have 100,000+ egg masses in the main tank right now. No, I am not kidding.

I'm just playing with you, although that sounds like a lot of egg masses! I'm going to setup my new system probably in December and it will be designed to try out snail larvae. So maybe once that is up you can send me some of those egg laying fools and we can both try to raise them together :)

Brian

I am not kidding about how many there are. The glass is two 5' x 35" and one 8' x 35" (I keep the front fairly clean) and there are so many egg masses just on the glass that it looks like coraline algae in many places. Nevermind that the eggs are all over the rock too. In fact, many of the snails themselves are covered in eggs.

I spotted some of the ones I got from you last night and they are looking really good. Nice sized specimens. :D

So I was messing with my skimmer and kind of got interested in something else... Who knows how long it was until I walked out and found my skimmer overflowing... After I got the water cleaned up all I could think of was you're previous water issues:lol:

That bites...although it comforts me to know I am not the only one to flood his house! :D I think the inventor of the Shop-Vac should get a Nobel Peace prize.
