dKh is 9.0...

Sebae clown joined in for dinner tonight. :) CBB just darts in and out, but there is so much food on the reef for it, I have no worry about it getting enough to eat.

I have not seen the Coral banded Shrimp since its first flight to the bottom. I know they are a bit secretive, but I figured it would come out during feeding time.

I also have not seen the PLTA at all since I fed it last night. I spent about 20 minutes today looking for it. I'll have to name it Waldo!

9 is not that bad... I had to raise mine along with Ca and mag tonight. Gave everything a little bump with the water change.

My shrimp do that all the time. I don't see them for weeks and then poof, there are still 4 or 5 in there:)

I just shoot for 7... If I can maintian the 7 with balanced Ca, I'm happy:)

According to some stuff I read in the chemestry forum, NSW is 7dkh at 420 ca. I don't seem to have a problem keeping mine at 400-410 at 7dkh. After doing some reading, one of these days I'll have to play with it, but the effects on my pH when raising alk is not good.

And right now I have a pretty low Ca demand, so I can see trying to bump it up to 9. But yeah, I know that 9-11dkh is a good range to shoot for:)

Dunno, the articles in the chemistry forum point to 7 for nsw. Neither here nor there:) I bumped mine up to 9 today as yesterday I actually bumped it a little high, so I was right about 8. I balanced the Ca and upped the mag for the 4/1 ratio. I guess we will see how my system likes it. usually I have low pH and don't like bumping everything around... But with the 125, I seem to be keeping the pH in the 8.2-8.3 range... With the big tank I always struggled to keep it at 7.9...

alk at 9.0 dKh for the 4th day in a row, so I guess that is stable right now. Just did a water change with water bumped up to target numbers. Also did a PO4 test on it and I couldn't quite make out the colors...it was either 0.0 ppm or 0.015 ppm. I just wish there was a more definitive color change so I could be sure.

While doing the water change I got to witness the male maroon feed a black molly to one of the GBTAs...seems like such a small meal for that anemone, but I guess every little bit counts!

Check for it after lights out...nocturnal buggers. I have a mated pair and they're always upside down under a rock during the day.

How come I wasn't invited to the party?

tank room was a bit of a mess this morning with beer bottles and shot glasses...we had the Rogue Old Crustacean last night...and wow, what a bang! Greg also came over and the three of us talked reefs for a few hours. Sherman and I are working Greg towards turing his cichlid tank into a reef tank. :)

Too bad Don couldn't come over!

Sounds like a party to me.

I pull the whole unit. No way to get them off while in the water with all the coraline on them.

Reef Update: Took a couple X-Mas Tree rocks over to Sherman's tonight. I am sure they will do fine there and not get picked on by his Beta, Watanabe, Srcibble pair, or even the Sally Lightfoot. Whatever the case, they have a much better chance over there than with my CBB! Hi stank is looking sweet.

DUH! I'll type slow so it's easier for you. :D Once the wet side is out of the water how do you get the cage off of the base with the magnet without damaging either?
