OK! Enough chat...Starting a 1000g+ Reef

I hear ya Sherman...start your own business so at least you'll be getting the profits from no break, lunch time etc. :)

I got that booster pump apart by busting out a couple screws. The shaft turns but there does seem to be a bit of gravel in the bearings...have it soaking in Break Free and have the electrical connector soaking in alcohol. Maybe I will get it back together tomorrow.
 
yeah seriously, that Alita was completely filled with SW for God knows how long and I just filled it up with alcohol, let it sit for an hour, and poured it out...been working ever since. That's what happens when you buy good quality stuff right?
 
Interesting find...

While bending over my outbound sump trying to locate my left nut, I spotted fish fry!!!! From the looks of it it is a black molly...just one so far, but that could mean there are more in the system, so even though the adults are dwindling, there are some babies to pick up the slack. :)

funny no one cares that I am getting fish fry...and I wonder how many have already been eaten!!

And never mind about my nuts and bolts. I am 41 and having trouble keeping track of them. That scream you hear, is when I have found one with my knee. :lol:
 
You aren't supposed to kneel on your nuts. Stroke or no stroke, that's gotta hurt. :eek2:





























And I'm talking about the steel kind that Jonathan apparently keeps dropping on the floor. ;)
 
I can certainly empathize. Even though it's still under construction, I am already finding my new fish room a bit small. I dropped something the other day and had to go out of the room to back in to the room so I could find what I dropped; simply no room to turn around while I have stuff in the middle of the room due to painting.

Seriously though, did you add the mollies as "distractors" or for the fry? Are the mollies in the display or the sump system? I took note of "fish fry" find (after I got done chuckling...) but just thought they were an intended by-product (though it is quite interesting that they breed at sg that high...).
 
mollies are in the display and fuge (and apparently now in the sump. They are there to bear live food. I have personally watched as the female maroon grabbed one and fed it to a GBTA.
 
Oh...cool...you need to feed them anything in particular or does stuff like blood worms, mysis shrimp and Cyclop-eeze (fish crack ;) ) work?
 
Friend of mine uses the black ones too...that is why I wondered...he never acclimated them either, just tossed them in after a fresh water dip to clean them of the fish store crud... :lol:

Oh yeah, no need to yell either when answering questions... ;) :D :lol:
