Wow J, you usually make me laugh at least once a day...but today 3 straight posts almost made me wet myself  Congratulations on ALMOST ruining my wifes new office chair :D

WHat the heck is going on Carbon Fiber Kevlar?? J what are your thoughts about a longer tank like 10 or 12? Is you just dont want to loose the room??

Thiago: No tank shots until I get my top-down box.

Jeff: Sometimes I re-read my posts and cannot figure out how they came out of my head. And BTW, what's wrong with your chair? Did you break it?

Eric: Regarding the CF/Kevlar, I am just investigating alternative materials. I guess I am just not a huge fan of acrylic and I want better viewing panes for sure. I will definitely be having low-iron viewing glass, and whatever material I decide for the rest. I will be discussing having a local boat builder do the box with a vacuum bag system as well.

As far as the size goes, I am not really interested in a larger tank for this space. It just fits well into my home. If I were to buy or build another house, I would certainly consider going larger, but really this is plenty for a home hobbyist.

Your just absurd all around, nothing specific.

Seems like your relationship with the clown fish is on the rocks... Not paying enough attention to you these days? She been drinking heavy again? Its not pretty when she gets like that.

and she's always giving me the stink eye.

Hey, who has a library of sketchup plumbing parts? I know someone posted a link to one a while back, but I cannot find it now. Trying to use the google stuff is really hard.

Thirschmann and Lunch are great at Sketchup...

I guess a mere 1000 gallon display is enough for a home hobbiest hahahahaha... I do understand your dislike with acrylic...Could it be because of a bulkhead..Can you post hat pic again...Not trying to rub salt in a wound or anything is was a cool pic..

I just can't stand the scratching to be honest. It's pretty hard to keep this much glass clean and when I have to worry about it getting scratched I get pretty torqued. Plus, some animals will scratch it too.

No, it's not broken...I almost wet myself laughing so hard at your clownfish story....I've discovered the hard way that urine and leather chairs do not go well together  (long story, and not appropriate for a family sensitive forum :D)

OK, I made a valve today:

You don't need a top-down box for a FTS. ;)

yeah, bu tit's the only excuse I have right now.

Thanks Tom, I'll check those out. It ain't easy figuring this stuff out myself, but it is good to excercise the brain now and then!

More than appropriate at Disturbed Reefers

Looks like your getting the hang of the sketch up J. Looking forward to the final design.

It's OK...good mental excercise anyway. I had a tough time with the knob. That second link has some good suff. The problem with the one I made is that the pipe is 8 feet across!

Well, it might make a good surge valve for the 47' tank

lol... yeah that happens if you don't start on the right scale. Guess you were trying for a gate valve as a normal handle for a ball valve would have been far easier and less complicated. Well done none the less.

No kidding Jeff. I actually refined it with some smoothing so it much looks better now. I am still having trouble roating it as a component. I am trying to build a manifold using these and it's a bugger getting them lined up and attaching pipe.

I'm rolling from your rabid clown fish story.

Our LFS had a mated pair of maroons and they made the mistake of putting them and their host anemone in the snails for sale tank. Poor employees would come out with blood dripping every time someone bought snails.

I was in there buying ONE snail everyday until they sold those maroons. :D

Foxfaces really are affectionate animals. They pack a powerful punch though.
