Fingers crossed for the colonies. Good chance that this may have stressed them enough to wipe them out :(

This is the first update notice I've recieved today BTW

Good to see you back Bart :)

I only keep up on weekends and public holidays, which is what's on today here in Australia

Have you still got all your set-up. I'm still subscribed to your thread, but got sick of people critizing you after your problems, so I have been ignoring the latest updates. Looking forward to seeing you get back into it. You planned well, so it's time to get the ball rolling again.

i was really gonna call it quits, but decided to stick it out. should have some pics soon since i spent the entire weekend with the family, my last son just made 2 today. its a full time job reefkeeping not to mention i have 4 boys, 4 dogs, continuos projects around the house and about 1500gal to maintain :D . i will try to stick around for awhile this time.

this is so unusual that i sign on this thread and find only few replies, what's up J nothing much to say :D anything at all? few jokes would be nice

Jonathan, do you always have a pair in the main tank mating? I take it the babies get gobbled up before they can grow?

I try to have several in the fuge mating so they can do their thing without the fear associated with living in the display.

Come on Bart, I have other things to do too you know. :D

when going into nap does most of the corals stays open or closed or it varies with different ones?

With his permission, I post below a message from Scott at SpectraPure. He doesn't want to get into an argument over this, but I feel this is an important issue in terms of using testing services. When I sent my sample tank water, I also sent samples of my RO/DI water which I have posted earlier. There were some surprises so I forwarded the results to Scott. Here is his reply:

Jonathan,

Thank you for the test report. This is not the first we have received from AWT. We have started a collection.

Our only comment is that, while some of the numbers individually are believable, when you add them up, you get 141.8 PPM of "stuff" in your water.

I don't think you believe that there could be so much stuff in the DI water! A look at the magnesium value of 139 PPM makes it is hard to take the rest seriously. Even the remainder of 2.8 PPM is more that we typically measure out of a DI cartridge. We would have to question the methodogy of the individual tests, and ask are they using equipment explicitly suited to low-conductivity water, or are they using tests more suited to seawater. What are their measurable minimums for each element?

More to the point, how is your tank doing? Diatoms, hair algae, etc.?

So obviously AWT is not advertising that they test low conductivity water and that should be very clear as far as I am concerned, but Scott's response basically sheds some light on water testing in general.

Hey Jonathan,

Do you know Doris at the LFS in Issaquah? Anyways... she saw the red zoanthid colony that you posted in my thread and she wants frags. I didn't know if you sold your stuff but i thought I'd let you know.

I moved most of the frags I got from Gabriel and Ultimatefrags onto my display frag rack today. There's virtually no more room on the damn thing.

I did find something on the zoas which was extremely small but looked like it might be a nudi egg spiral, so I did a dip and left them in QT. It was so small i couldn't positively ID it but better to be cautious about those buggers. I sure wish I had a microscope. Been looking at them but they cost more than a decent camera!
