Very funny Micki!

Yeah Marc, the process wasn't too bad, just my turning on the lamps made a little issue. Sherman had asked me if we should spray down the corals to keep them wet, and I figured that wouldn't help. In fact it would make it worse in terms of intensifying the light on the coral flesh, but I bet that if I had taken his suggestion, I would have felt how hot it was and maybe changed my mind about having the lights on in the first place.

Anyway, the reef looks good today and I am not too worried about the corals that got burned. I think they will probably rebound just fine.

Any updated pics for us Jonathan? I would be interested to see just how badly the corals are, for learning sake of course... ;)

Regardless, glad to hear that you were able to work out this solution, albeit temporary, until you can replace the tank...give it a few weeks or so and the plug will be encrusted with that thick, monster coralline you grow in your system and you won't be able to see it anyway!! :lol2: :D

yeah, I am really looking forward to the coraline blob on the side of my tank!

I was thinking about taking a picture of the burnt coral, but it really just looks like a regular STN but from top-to-bottom. Not much to it.

well, after too much reading.....

Let me just say to you Jonathan: That despite your ups and downs with the vortech, and other things, I admire your ability to continue to find reasons to laugh and joke around.

I am sorry that on the thread YOU started for your tank and experiences, people had the nerve to "defend" eco-tech and make accusations of bashing all the while bashing you.

I dont come on here too often anymore but after reading about all this I just wanted to offer you a sincere "best wishes" from here forward.

Cheers,

Kevin

Thanks Kevin. Much appreciated. :)

Since I am not under any contractural restrictions, I will say that the members of the PSAS that attended the Januray meeting were pretty shocked at what they saw.

Anyway, we'll see where it goes. Haven't heard a peep from Eco-Tech in more than a week so I am saving the "hole" to make some nice Bling. Should make for some interesting conversation at MACNA 2008.

Jonathan,
Hey man you ever need a hand over there with any thing like that you let me know. and when the time come to move the old tank for the new do let me know i would be more then happy to help you with any of that kind of thing!

kinda quiet this morning huh, anything new and entertaining today or you just sitting around waiting for 6pks :D

So something interesting to report. You all know how I will make it known when I don't like a product or I find out the company is full of crap like the AquaEqualizer, No Sick Fish, Vortech, etc. right? Well I also like to post when I find something that works as advertized or actually exceeds my expectations.

Take the Algae Dozer Scraper Pads available through Mighty Magnets.

IMG_0081.JPG

I have been going through a lot of different products to find something that works well and is easy to use including many scrapers, pads, the Therme Algae Terminator etc. and this Algae Scraper pad actually works to get coraline algae off without scratching your tank.

It's cheap and easy, but I recommend getting it as close to the size of your current magnet system as possible. I bought an extra large one figuring I would cut it to size, but the scrape is not too easy to cut.

This thing works VERY well.

Curious, how much were they? They look like 3M pads designed to scrub china without scratching the surface. I imagine buying those would probably be half the price at least.

They have different colors designed for different surfaces with the white pad being for the most delicate items, green for heavy scrubbing and blue for heavy duty stuff.

You need to make that pic a bit smaller. Can't see the whole thng in frame.

are you retarded or what?

here's the data from the link:

SMALL
ALGAE DOZER SCRAPES OFF
CORALLINE ALGAE M-1 THRU M-2
F-1 THRU F-2 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" $3.50

MEDIUM
ALGAE DOZER SCRAPES OFF
CORALLINE ALGAE M-4 THRU M-10
F-4 THRU F-6 4" x 6" $4.00

LARGE
ALGAE DOZER SCRAPES OFF
CORALLINE ALGAE M-12 THRU M-14
FH-8 THRU FH-12 5" x 7 1/2" $4.50

EX-LARGE
ALGAE DOZER SCRAPES OFF
CORALLINE ALGAE FH-14 5 1/2" x 8" $5.00

They are very cheap but it's not the pad that does it, it's the scraper bar attached to the pad. Not my picture...

wow jonathan I'm glad that you finally repair your tank. Now you can concentrate your time on to reefing instead of fixing.

Must be. Either that or it's your moronic posting of a picture that takes 4 sceens to handle the whole pic!

I just went to the site too and I have no idea what "scraper bar" your talking about. Must be the one in your hand! ;)
