Oldude's new 400 gal tank build

Oh wow Greg, I had no idea this was happening  I'm sorry to hear of your troubles and those buckets, ugh so sad. I'm glad you haven't jumped off the wagon though, V2 will be better than ever just need some patience watching everything fill in. I have had various issues as well but still have a few things I got from you so if you're looking to replace things you lost by all means, let me know.

patience my friend!-- Ive been away from your thread trying to keep my tank steady.

Anyways sorry about your troubles unfortunately is all part of this hobby.

Thanks for all the "well wishes" everyone. I believe I read on a signature of someone on one of the many reef boards something like this " There are two types of reefers - those that have had a major system crash and those that haven't-----yet"
Went out to a friends last night and hit him up for some frags & such so I was able to get a few I used to have back as well as a couple new ones.
Things with my tank are coming along at a rapid pace so it won't be long before I'm back in business. Getting things set up with corals again is putting some fun back in the hobby after a rough year.:D

just finished reading whole thread from beginning. What a ride! I to applaud your dedication, and am looking forward to new photos. Were there no problems with other tanks in the system?
About the whole DI thing I didn't notice if you replaced DI or still just doing RO.

Sir
You are welcome to a frag of mother of pearl acropora free from my tank since it's grow fast in my tank.
If only you are close by ..
I shipped couple of frags to NY but I don't know about Canada.
I am looking forward to see the newly re landscape tank.

Thanks people.
I have been debating if I should start a new thread since I pretty much starting over or carry on with this one. I have decided I may as well just keep adding to this thread.
So as you know I have started to "seed" the tank again so I'll share a few pictures of some of the "goings on".
I'm more of an SPS guy but interestingly enough I have some zoos starting to make a comeback since I moved my imperator into a different tank. Nothing fancy (he ate all those) but a few good filler pieces none the less.

Here are a few of the pieces that although are for the most part in rough shape still hangin' in there from before. Again most of the best stuff is history.

Things certainly haven't hurt the clams and the two I have left that the angel didn't kill are doing well.
I'm diggin' the way this one in particular has morphed a few different patterns on the mantles.
(excuse the cyano as I'm having a bit of a cycle happening)

Sorry to hear that you've had such a rough road. Another curse of the TOTM. I'm glad you decided to keep the same thread. It will be exciting to follow along again!

Thanks for taking the time, it's a bit of a long read.
As far as problems in the other tanks, since everything is part of the same system yes, pretty well all SPS and much of the LPS were affected and most were lost. Nudibranches in particular will move onto things like Turbinaria and some chalices when the montis run out. I can't pinpoint if it was the AEFW or nudis that ate the birdnest & stylos but something did. Point being if you leave these things untreated they will eat most any stony coral, they don't seem too fussy. Unfortunately I had everything happen at the same time or one after another so I never figured out what was happening until it was too late. Regarding the DI, I just got some different DI resin and ran with it so I am still using RODI.

Thanks for the generous offer, if I was in the US I would consider taking you up on it.

Jason McK - WOW Greg sorry to here of your troubles. I'm sure things will come around. Sounds like it already is
Thanks Jason, things are doing pretty good again. (knock on wood)

klondike4001 - Any chance that mutant acro survived, I've been hoping to see another picture....
I lost that one as well:thumbdown
SERVO - Sorry to hear that you've had such a rough road. Another curse of the TOTM. I'm glad you decided to keep the same thread. It will be exciting to follow along again!
Thanks. Yeah it's interesting how many tanks that make TOTM end up having problems. I think part of my problem was that I was so busy with work and stuff this year that once things started to slide I just couldn't keep up with it all. I couldn't find the time or ambition to pull things apart to fix things. Thanks for following along.
masharp1126 - Let's see a full tank shot now, then we'll have something to compare it to 12 months down the road.
I'll take one when I get a chance.
