INTRODUCING

INTRODUCING

BIG BERTHA
the dual membrane 300 gal per day RO/DI unit to the rescue.
And as soon as I feel smart enough I'll hook it up. The instructions that come with it leave a little to be desired in my opinion.

Can't you just hear Crocodile Dundee saying "That's not a RO .. now THIS ... this is an RO."
That's funny Tony. As luck would have my old smaller R/O unit has a 3/8 feed line and the big one is 1/4 so I had to do some modifications to my plumbing before I can plug&play.

Got the unit installed on Saturday but it has a leak at the tubes between where the cylinders are joined together:mad2: Other than that it works great. The TDS meter says the water going in is 157 and coming out is .001 so I am impressed with the job it does but it sucks that it leaks.

Re: week 3 FTS update

I noticed an error in this thread. Over a month and 3 pages with no FTS.

This error has now been corrected. :bum:

Can you give a quick rundown on the equipment running this beast?

Equipment list.
Closed loop return pump - Reeflow Hammerhead
Display return pump - Reeflow Dart
Skimmer - Euro-Reef RC500
powerheads - 3x vortech MP40's, Tunze 6000, Tunze 6100 & multi controller
Chiller - Aqua Medic
Lighting -
5x 250 watt 14K HQI, 2x 150 watt 20K, 12x 54 watt T5's

I had some low alk & phosphate issues so I lost much of the colour I was getting back. Now those issues are resolved but it will take a while for things to look like they should but here's a couple of updated although crappy tank shots.

Damn, that is an insane amount of flow. Hammerhead, 3 Vortechs, and 2 Tunzes. :eek1:

Nice tank, all the hard work has paid off,how did you take apart the old reef? Wow,I love the rimless look and just digging the aquascape,it looks like a real reef of the pacific. Good work: )

i just got one last week and it's leaking as well. haven't quite pinned down the exact location of the leak yet. did you get it fixed? did you figure out what the red buttons on top of the canisters are for?

mpoletti - Very Impressive Greg. I think you are ready for an upgrade
Thanks Mike and no:lol:
Creetin - Sweet looking tank. Love the colors.
Thanks, when it smartens up the colour should be much better.
NexDog - Damn, that is an insane amount of flow. Hammerhead, 3 Vortechs, and 2 Tunzes.
It has good flow but I think it sounds like more than it actually is. There is a lot of coral and rock blocking many area so I need that much. I eventually want to replace the Tunzes with 2 more vortechs.

Thanks for the compliment. I took the old tank down one section at a time and set up the new scape over the course of a weekend.

I talked to Ryan at Bulk Supply and he offered me a $75 rebate for my time. I haven't fixed it yet but Ryan/Andrew was very helpful and explained how to do it. It will be easier for me to fix it rather than sending it back. The red buttons are just a pressure release valve and I you can use them when changing cartridges.

Greg,
I just read your ENTIRE thread!
What a great build!
Congrats. on a job well done!
Thanks very much. I am anxious for the warm weather to arrive ( garage isn't heated)so I can get the paneling done and room completed. I hope to be done this spring/summer.
