The green acro is a close up shot of A.gemmifera. It's growth ends have morphed lately and are much thinner than normal.
In the last picture taken in Aug 09 located here in this post--

you can see the same coral in the lower left when it still looked more typical with rounded growth tips.

I LOVE Mandarin's, nice shot Gregg!!!

Gregg,

Where do you have this one placed? I've got a piece of Crayola Plana (very similar to Deswali I'm told) and it actually looked like this when I first got it but it's darkened a bit and is missing the beautiful delicate white body that so typifies these gorgeous pieces...

Thanks

Thanks Dave.
I like that the female mandarin is red and the male is more blue & green. They make a cute couple.

I have that newest desalwii you are referring to about 2/3 of the way to the surface under strong flow directly below a 250 watt MH bulb. My other one which I should try and get a new picture of is doing great with med flow about 8" below the surface under T5's.

Here is an update on my first desalwii I picked up from my buddy. I kind of like what it's doing. I thought the tips would go purple like before but they seem to be leaning to the blue side.:crazy1: (at least for now anyway)

I bought a frag of pink A.prostrata from Ultimate frags in 2005 and have grown it and lost it several times. It's had a rough life, falling into a hammer coral, RTN, etc, etc. It has been a real hard luck piece. The last time it was dying I was able to save about 1/4" nub and it is finally starting to look like it's going to make it after about 6 months of nursing. I'm hoping this is the last time I have to do that. It's a shame to only have this much of a coral I've had for that many years.

GOT GREEN?
Here's my bright fuzzy A.robusta.

That's definitely green :D Also love the bight green polyps on the Desalwii. I got only one species that develops bright polyps. Depending on the amount of light and nutrients my Desalwii 's also lean toward the blue or purple tips.

Leonardo your desalwii is very nice so I am hoping that both of mine stay looking very different from each other but still kind of look like yours.

Thanks Dave.

Thanks for the info Gregg!~

I finally moved my piece of Crayola-Plana down lower today and noticed that it actually did have the white body, I just couldn't see it very well on the frag rack where I had it parked till I could place it.

I've got a line on a whole colony of A. Deswalli I'm interested in buying from a local reefer who's going to be breaking down his tank and downsizing so, I'm excited!!! Been on the hunt for so long for these two pieces and now they seem to be falling in my lap!

Dave I'm glad yours is looking how it should. I agree it can be hard to see the colours when the corals is up too high. Good luck with the colony, sounds like a great score! I'll be checking your thread so I can see them both. (or you can post em here too)

Here is an example of the type of damage I have been seeing since I had the issues. This blue tip green slimer took it pretty hard.:(

This A.convexa also exhibits tip damage but to a smaller extent.

Beautiful coral Greg, I've never seen a blue tip green slimer. This is exactly the same type of damage I'm having on my corals too. My tips totally lose tissue then algae starts to grow on them.
