Picked up something new today. It is a Eshopps top down tank viewer. I've always wanted to take top down photos of my coral, but because of the reflection of the lights, it was hard to do. This will enable to to see down through the water, and to take pictures top down with clarity. I will try to post some new pictures using it soon.
Did some more zoanthid dipping in Revive yesterday for nudibranches. I didn't see any come off in the dip, but the zoas look better and more opened up today. I will continue to monitor them.
I now have what I believe is evidence of the necessity of feeding coral while running biopellets. I went out of town all this past week and was gone for about 5 days. I left my wife in charge of filling up the ATO container if necessary and feeding the fish. I totally forgot to tell her to add amino acids and OysterFeast. I got home 5 days later, and within the 5 days of coral not being fed, the ORA Red Planets, a green month cap, a purple acro, and one other acro had turned pale. They were really light colored and getting pale. I realized that they had been deprived of food and aminos all week, and were negatively affected. I have restarted the coral feeding regimen, and I am sure those few coral will color back up. But it cemented in my mind what I thought I already knew, that running biopellets that strip down the water, you really have to heavily feed the coral and use amino acids to get the best coloration out of your coral. Just my observation of the week.
After waiting a couple of years, I was finally able to get my hands on a pair of Ventralis Anthias. These are absolutely my favorite fish, due to their beautiful bright pink and yellow coloring. I have one male and one female, now acclimated and doing well in my tank. Memfish kept them in quarantine for a month for me before I bought them, just to make sure they were healthy and would eat. They are doing well and eating like pigs, liking everything from ArticPods to brine shrimp. They are out and about swimming with the other anthias and fish. I got a photo of the male, and it was hard enough to get one of him, so I'll try to photograph the female another time.
I cannot stop looking at your stand and canopy! Is that the birch wood? I had Richard do mines as well, but I didn't get the birch, I got the........I'm not sure exactly what wood finish I got actually, lol, it wasn't the grain you have though! That looks AMAZING! I may see if I can change my doors out though. Here is mines.....
I'm trying to remember, I think it was birch but not sure. I believe the color was red oak, done in multiple coats to make it darker if I remember correctly. Your stand looks good, will look great when there is a tank on it.
Here is an SPS piece that I bought at Kermits a month ago for only about $30 I think. It has grown really well and is coloring up nicely. Not sure if it is a Bonsai, but looks similar.
