Optimized Beckett

Korallen Zucht New Style Injector Nozzle

You have to modify housing to adapt the Beckett, completely different. works very well..I installed one on my MTC 1000....big time foamer

The pumps big enough, 3400gph @4' head. It will be on a large distribution manifold. Circulation for tank is 2 x .75" supplies @ 600 gph so that will leave 2200 gph just for the skimmer and CR. Plus being able to go to a smaller pump due to the Beckett mods.

Things are sealed up and I am getting 70 scfh.
It seems as if the limiting factor has to be the input for the air, the pump or the drain (verifying its not restricted)

Without any Modifications, we get 132 - 138 SCFH out of the GEO skimmer. I am just wondering if it would be worth playing around with a mod or leave well enough alone.

It seems that most Beckets on the market have two small of an air intake to handle the pump it deserves. Its really no different than making an engine run with more ponies. More air, More gas, then work on better spray patterns, but if your air is choked off to begin with, its still not going to run right.

Pizza,
What pump do you have on that guy? It is taller than my GEO, I am thinking of adding an extension to mine.

So whats the best hole diameter and hole amount? 1/16 or higher?

ABout to mod one of my injectors to see if it makes a difference, my beckett skimmer is a DIY about 26" running with a mag 12. Want to make sure I can get the most out of this bad boy.

Glad you bumped this thread Sailfintang. I am modding my Beckett's today for a finer bubble and was looking for this thread. It seem to be 1/16" holes are the answer with one row around the Beckett in the line of the old holes. That's what I am going to be doing. It appears two rows are pointless because of the water line in the Beckett housing. I am not to sure of how many holes I will be able to get though until I start drilling. Post your result and we can compare.
This is my DIY skimmer I followed building when pcostanzo built his from the Barr site.

Cool looking skimmer. No problem bumping this at all. I was gonna do the 1/16th holes, but went ahead and did the 3/32 thinking it would pull better air. I finished drilling the injector yesterday and got about 20 holes all the way around. Have not tested to see the difference. I still am trying to put my DIY beckett online. Should be running by the endo f the week I hope. Have an unmodded beckett to compare with.

Hm.. I have not yet drill mine. I got them both all plugged off yesterday. I did a count of how many holes I could get useing a 1/16th bit and came up with 24 on each side giving me a total of 48 holes per Beckett.
I am wondering though also now if the holes are going to be big enough. I need to re evaluate this before I start drilling today. I think I will skip a hole all the way around using the 1/16" bit and test it out. I can always add more or make them bigger depending on how it works. I only have the two and would need to order more if I screw up. I would hate my skimmer to be down any longer then it has to be.
I also bought 3/8" ball valves to replace the 1/4" ones for air intake. The 1/4" ones worked well but limited my ability to plumb the air from outside helping with the ph.

I also heard adding more air intakes on the beckett chamber can help. I plan to test this evening hopefully if time permits, if it does not look good I can always plug the holes back up with epoxy and redrill again. The beckets are only 5 bucks so I plan to keep one unmodded until I find the sweet spot, I too do not want to be without a skimmer for very long.

Well I modded my beckett injector witha combination of 1/16th holes and 3/32 holes. I did the 3/32 holes first about 15-20 and then another 5-10 1/16th holes and all I can say is WOW!!!! I am getting some mean skimming out of my self bult beckett. My bubbles are super tiny after a slight adjustment to the air intake valve and I am getting some excellent foam. I really like the overall performance of the mod. I plan to mod the second injector I have. Great thread guys.

I am getting much finer bubbles now and a better foam. I recommend this mod!
This was right at start up. I will get some nog shots later after work.

What pump are you running to drive the beckett(s)?

I think when this thread was started, an intended advantage to this mod was that more efficient, lower pressure pumps could be run with the modded beckett. I am wondering, of those who have done this mod, what pumps are you running. Did you try something like a Dart and did it work.

I'd love to box up my watt chomping PanWorld PS200 for a watt nibble Dart!

I will try and get some pics up later.

As for lower rated pumps I have not tried it on a dart, the reeflo snapper interests me I could run my entire system off that and it is like 98 watts I think?

Currently I am running my beckett off a Mag 12.

Where can I get a replacement beckett from? Is there a part number or something? eBay? MRC?

I don't want to screw up the one I have

Are the white patches where you filled existing holes? If so what did you use?

Ebay is cheapest I believe like 5 bucks, you get O Rings from local hardware store to keep it secure in your injector....search for beckett 1408 or beckett injector should give you some results.
