Orange crush Echinata

This coral has grown a lot over the years,thought I'd take a pic while in the tank last week.

Beautiful specimen . I had a frag that looked like that but it lost a battle with a chalice that was too close.

That is crazy,chalices,Echinophyllia S.P,Echinopora S.P and Oxypora and Mycediums get tossed in a lot on the common name "chalice".These are honestly some of the ONLY corals that we deal with that can win a fight with a Acanthastrea Echinata or A. Subechintas ! Euphyllias (frogspawns,hammers,torches,anchors and so on) are one of the other species that can sometimes pick and win a fight with A Echinata ! The Acrospheres on the tips of sweeper tentacles of Euphyllias pack a POTENT PUNCH !! They contain some serious stinging power !!
That A. Echinata has had a few victims in its day if I recall correctly ! Cool post !!
