I need help guys. I bought this beutyfull orange ricodia. It was in perfect shape when I bought it, but now it is not doing so hot. I placed it next to my other ricordia colony about 1" away so they wouln't fight thinking it would be fine. It was placed in the middle of the tank with moderate water flow. I run my 14k 10" above the tank for 8 hrs a day!!!!! After about 3 days the ric started to open up his mouth like it was starving or something.

I have now put this guy in a shaded spot with low flow to see what happens. I have high hopes for this little guy and hopefully spread the luv after he splits. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

parameters are all normal and all of the other corals that I got the same day are doing great.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Danny.

Which one are you asking about? The top one looks fine to me but the bottom one looks bleached, possibly from the stress of moving it to your tank in the first place. Less light and flow should help it out.

These kind ric. are from Indonesia,in my own experence they need more light ,may be u can move them a little bit upper

I disagree with the comment about lighting. The florida ricordea are much more tolerant of strong lighting then Yuma Ricordea. I agree with what you've done by moving into a shady spot.
