Orchid dottyback and firefish For Sale

I've got a plain ol' firefish for sale, healthy, active, good appetite. $5

I also have an orchid dottyback for "sale", but I think he has some type of gut worm going on... He's very active, eats well and acts otherwise normal... he just has a beer belly. I don't own a QT tank and I'd like to get him medicated. If you have the QT and the medicine, he's yours. I would charge for him but after medicating I've been told there's a chance the fish wouldn't be able to poop out all the dead worms and could die. I'm only giving him out to someone who will medicate him!

I don't have a QT, but i was wondering what the disposition of the dottyback was? Is he aggressive with your other fish?

the dottyback is... well... a dottyback. He has his territory and is a jerk to the other fish when they get in it. If I had other more aggressive fish that wouldnt be a problem, but all I have are clowns a firefish and a chalk bass.

I'm about 20 minutes into my waiting game with the fish trap... fire fish is currently defiantly sitting right in front of the open mouth of the trap, refusing to enter. Mysis shrimp treats await him inside...

Over two and a half hours sitting in front of this tank and nothing. I'm really close to tearing the whole thing apart, breaking my encrusted corals and dusting up the tank for the day to get these jerks out. Any advice on catching fish who don't want to get caught?

lol if the 2 nets dont work, trap doesnt work... or have johnny go over there and take his fishing poles.. haha goodluck!

still sitting here. The only net I own is 2" across, so that's not gonna work. Still banking on the trap. I caught the firefish and got him sold, it's just this stubborn orchid.

you can use your taser and im sure he'll be shocked for a little bit and float up and then you can bag him!

I'm using the clear plexi trap from SEA. He went in once but when I released the string for the door, it hung up and didn't close. He's been wary of it ever since.

Nearly 12 hours sitting in front of my aquarium. I'm done now though, provided I don't accidentally release him in the morning when I bag him up. He's living in the trap tonight to think about what he's put me through.

Congrats on the catch.

Was reading somewhere that someone was having a similar issue catching a fish. He finally gave in, and got his fishing gear, found a small barb-less hook. Said it was like catching fish in a bucket. It only took a couple of minuets.

I do have tiny fish hooks for when I go backpacking and get my Huck Finn on, but they all have barbs. Good idea though.

I tried using the trap to catch a tang, and hand no luck either, finally bagged him with some nets, hands, and a little assistance form Aron...

I went through hell trying to catch an a$$hole yellow tang(wife named him). Finally got him in the corner with multiple nets. Scared the poo out of the other fish.
