I ordered 2 more Multicolored Angelfish over the weekend from the Diver's Den section and requested for shipping Monday priority overnight. The weather here in NY is beautiful unlike the last time I ordered. One is 3" and the other is 3 1/4" and can't wait to get it tomorrow.

flameangel88,

Thank you for placing your order with LiveAquaria and sharing your enthusiasm. We hope you enjoy the beautiful corals you receive.

Stacie,

Thanks again for your quick response. I'll stay at the house as long as I can to wait for the Fedex phone call on approx delivey time as I've a couple of errands to run in the afternoon.

Again as I stated, the health of the fish is my/LA primary concern (the very reason I took the day off from work and ordered Priority Overnight) and it's the very reason I came back to LA for the purchase as I 've confidence LA will delivery healthy live stocks and certainly for your great customer service.

I'll keep you posted on the delivery and the health of the Multicolored Angels.

Fedex delivered at 12:30 and going through the acclimation process now. There must have been a lot of movement durng transport as one bag was tilted on top of the other where the lower bag had less air in it and some water leaked out from the inside. Good sign is both are swimming and the room is kept very dark at the moment to reduce stress. Hope to get some pictures later tonight after both settle in.

flameangel88,

Thank you for the update. We are very glad to hear you have received your fish and are in the process of successful acclimation! We are sorry to hear of the condition of the bags, however, and will inform our management of this important concern.

We look forward to viewing your photos! Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can assist you in any way.

The 3 1/4" looks pretty big and beautiful and both acclimated very well. The bigger one kinda pushed the smaller one around in the 10 minutes or so then that subsided and both just swimmed across each other and sometimes side by side.

Here are some pictures:

I don't know you can keep 2 same species Angel Fish together? I thought they always fight.

I've 3 FAs since last Nov and I'm working on this new Multicolored Angelfish tank (75g) with 4. Have to monitor very closely during introduction phase and be prepare to remove some if they get too aggressive. The most difficult for me so far is introducing a Juv. Blueface after the Majestic got established. I'd to take the BF out for 6 weeks where it was in a tank with no competiton for food and healed during that time. After re-introducing back to the main tank it was strong enough to out run the Majestic and after a couple of months the BF is doing very well and comes out in the open more often.

You can try but must have a back up plan if you need to take one out and be prepare to spend many hours in front of the tank to monitor for aggression.

invincible569: Thanks. Did you get any Multicolored Angel?

Actually I did get one from Liveaquaria and loved it. I miss him. My orange shoulder terrorized him to death. I took my orange shoulder out since then. the orange shoulder killed some of my other fish. never again will I add a tang! ;)

Anyhow, here's what he looked like:

I though only Yel Tangs do that...my 4.5" Blue Hippo is a baby in the tank. I've to be very careful when adding just because of the Yel Tang.

Not sure.. but my orange shoulder was very territorial. He nipped him to death. Everytime he saw him.. he would go after him. I felt sad because when I pulled him out, his fins were all gone.

Sorry to hear that but I didn't know tangs are that aggressive. As bad as my YT is he would only do that when I tried adding a Purple Tang but never that aggressive with other fish and the YT is born to use that scalpel where as the Hippo doesn't know he has one too.

We would like to offer a few comments and suggestions regarding the addition of aggressive specimen(s) to your existing tank.

When Tangs are housed in the same aquarium they can become territorial and aggressive if they are not introduced at the same time. Aggression can vary from individual to individual within each species, so there is no guarantee that even if they are introduced at the same time they will be compatible later on. If hobbyists choose to not introduce the fish simultaneously, then starting with smaller, less aggressive species and gradually working your way up to the larger more aggressive species is the best plan of action.

The easiest way to try and house multiple tangs in larger aquaria is to select fish of different genus. Tangs are most aggressive towards their own species or even their own genus. If maintained in a large enough aquarium and an adequate amount of food is provided, some aquarists have been known to house schools of the same species of tangs together in aquariums that are at least 6 feet in length or more.

It should be noted that mixing tangs of the same genus is the most risky and problematic. For example if one were to try and maintain a Scopas tang and yellow tang (both Zebrasoma spp.) in the same aquarium this will often lead to severe aggression that is detrimental to the health of the fish. In general, fish of the genus Acanthurus and Zebrasoma are normally the most territorial and aggressive fish towards other tangs.

If two conspecifics are collected from different populations and are placed in the same aquarium, aggressive behavior will most likely occur until a new pecking order is established. Unfortunately, the weaker or less aggressive fish often dies, either gradually as a result of stress or quickly from physical trauma inflicted by the stronger fish.

One way to help alleviate this is to section off a small portion of the aquarium with egg crate or some other tank divider, and confine the larger or more established fish in this small area for a few weeks until the new addition can adjust to the new surroundings. Rearranging the rockwork and aquascape in the aquarium will also help. The reason for moving the rockwork around is to help change the established territories of the existing fish, and take the focus off of the new addition.

These methods may not always work and is always best to carefully plan your compatibility beforehand. Proper planning of all the inhabitants we house in our aquariums is a must for the well being of the marine life we maintain. A well established, large aquarium is a must when maintaining tangs, as these fish are often prone to contracting saltwater Ich when stresses, or when housed in newly established aquariums.

We hope you find this information beneficial!

Was the Majestic a bully and did you have any issues with it in your reef?

Majestic was not a bully but when I introduced the BF it just went after the BF relentlessly. I've added Goldflake and Flagfin and there was no problem with the Majestic just with the YT (anything I add its an issue with the YT). The BF was just too weak when I received and afer taking him out he had a tank by himself for 6 weeks and during that time I soaked mysis with selcon & vitamin so he got very healthy when I added him back.
