Oregon Tort baby frag question

Rick over at Soutas I belive all his tanks are 6500k and he also uses extreme amounts of ozone from what I hear... I have not seen his in person in such a long time.. Several people over in this Area boycotted his shop due to EXTREME prices...

I have a small colony that came from the original oregon tort. Mine has a blueish/purple base with bright blue polyps. It is funny how these corals morph throughout the generations.

Morph and/or change with all the different lighting and parameters people have in different tanks.

All I know is I lOVE this coral. Use to live in Portland..back when Waves and UpScales both had pretty big colonies.

I hate these waiting lists that happen and have refused to get on any....except I did for this coral. :) But it was also for about 2 months; not 2-3+ years.

tacocat - that is what i was wondering if the small frags morph colors for the time being? mine was VERY small when i got it...and it is growing very slowly :(

lesd - nice color. yeah that IS slow growth for 1yr

Travis - i thought it was the real deal...just thought you could verify as you were there. too bad that pic sucks color wise.

Illusion and others - thanks for the history on it...i remember reading it quite a while back. good turn on this thread

TexasTodd - ok that is CRAZY color

i'll be curious to see how mine changes color as time goes. it is sort of shaded by a small overhang in the tank. it is almost in a crevace or a hole a little. maybe the lack of light could be causing the change?

That's probably not helping. At the same time, I would be leary on moving it into a brighter location. Small cleaning frags (that's what I call them) usually bleach out and look terrible until they are at least half an inch long. The mortality rate on baby frags/cleaning frags is quite high unfortunately. So if it is doing well, I'd leave it.

The growth rate on these things isn't too bad (if you don't trim them). A small frag of course will take forever to grow, but as the grow larger, their growth becomes exponential.

taco - yeah i don't plan on moving it. i put it in that place so i wouldn't bleach the baby frag/cleaning frag...ok wierd name IMO :D i wanted it to have time to adjust..even though i aclimated w/ window screening. i was just being extra causious w/ this little guy...he was so PURDY :D

i have a baby size lokani that bleached out on me...but is encrusting well. i'm waiting for it to color back up. it was a swee piece when i got it. just waiting for the color now

mine had great growth when it was small-started as a fingernail sized nub.

grew to this size in 6 months

the growth on it has now slowed down alot, and seeing how i found it behind the rocks after returning home from vacation,it is now a greenish purplish color with blue tips
