Osmolator on constant alarm

So I dug out my "old style" osmolator to finally get the new tank going and once plugged in it immediately sounds the alarm and shows a "high water level".
The float switch is not triggered (in fact I moved it a couple of times) and the alarm remains.

Anything that would cause the float switch to stick after about 6months in dry storage?

Thanks for the input,

Robb

The most likely culprit as magnetic field near the float switch or controller, many ballasts and also magnetic cleaners, holders, large pumps, can all cause this. The float switch is a magnetic switch and it switches a relay which also works on magnetism.

Thanks for ther reply,
I had this issue with my other Osmolator when I "upgraded" to DIY magnetholders.
This one even triggers when I hold the float far away from anything else, so I was able to rule this out.

The float switch circuit is very simple, so there are not many things that can go wrong, if the controller is near a magnet (ballasts) it can activate the relay due to the magnetic field. The float can go bad but this is rare. If the controller gets wet this can also short and cause the alarm. Do you get only a too high light or also a too low light and blinking too high light?

I tried it on the kitchen table - far from any magnetic or electrical source.
The controller is dry and worked flawlessly when put in storage (which is the weird thing).
I am currently at work and can't check - but I am 90% sure the "too high" light comes on, no blinking though - and no "too low" light.

I will verify tonight - thanks for the help so far.
