bought new put in sump will not turn off when it should turns off then back on thought it was bad so took it back to the store were i bought it they gave me another one it worked great for the first day then it started doing the same thing i read that they are touchey when they are new and that is what the store told me when i returned the first one they said it may need to sit in water for a few days to clean it has been in water for 4 days even let set in warm water still no different put it in the tank and still no difference getting very frestred with the thing need help i read how everbody likes these things i am not feeling that way right now

Do you have any micro bubbles in the sump? This would be a definite cause, any air bubbles will cause a problem.

I would try rinsing it in soapy water, as hot as you can stand with your hands. New plastic is hydrophobic and tends to prefer to having air stick to it vs water. This helps break that issue.

No, I would suggest sending it in and I will test it and if it is bad I will replace it with one I will test before it goes out. This would be very unusual as I have seen so few bad osmolators that 2 to the same person seems about the same odds as being struck by lightning. Let me know if you want to send it in.

thanks for all your help i am going to try to play with it a little more to see if i can get it to work i will send it inif i can not get it to work thanks

yes i do see micro bubbles any idea how to stop the problem i am trying to put it in my tank and see if this will help

Well, before delving into that I would test the osmolator in a bucket or small tank. If we are sure it works we can tackle the bubbles. Generally you need to build a baffle, I can highly recommend the Oceanic sumps for just this reason, their baffle design really works and given the time involved it is definitely easier just to buy it.

took it back to the store being that it was the second one that i had a problem with they gave me the one off their tank it works great like it should they could not get the first one to work also so i did not feel like it was me after i heard that. love the thing the best thing i have ever bought and the service and help i got from you and them was great thanks for all your help.

Problems like this are pretty rare, I know that for a brief time we had some problems but new testing procedures were added to control for that so I don't think it will happen again. Most of the problems we see are just caused by new sensors which tend to get air bubbles stuck to them or by too many micro bubbles in the sump.
