Osmolator stopped pumping after 1 week

Hi Roger

I have only used this Osmolator for a week and it has stopped pumping water. The water container it was in did run dry, I refilled it but no more pumping action. I followed the trouble-shooting tips in the booklet about inverting the pump to get any trapped air out of it, and making sure the power supply is set to 9V, etc. but nothing makes any difference.

I will manually top off the tank and the light turns green for level, then when I come back in an hour the pump light is back on. This will stay on for about 15 minutes (guessing) and then the red light for low water level comes on. Repeat.

I don't like being without a functional ATO so unless something suggests itself to you as a problem I guess I need to have a replacement pump Fed-exed to me.

I will pm you with my phone number etc

thanks

Roger, I took photos as you requested but since I can't upload them into this thread (can't resize them small enough), I sent them to the email address posted on the Tunze website.

One more question I have related to this overfill issue, is why didn't the light come on that says that the sump level is too high? The sump level was way above the sensor, 2-3 inches higher than it should have been, and still the green light for "Level" was on. The "Too High" light should have been on!

I don't understand how even if a syphon did occur, the correct light would not have been on.

For the too high light to go off the float switch has to be raised, if the float switch is higher and was not reached it would not have gone off. I replied to your email. I think it would be possible to have a siphon if the reservoir in the photo was full to the top, from the perspective of the photo it looks like the hose extends about 4" below the top of the reservoir.

If it's any hep I have found that when I remove the pump from the reservoir or run the reservoir dry it usually develops an airlock and won't pump after refilling until I blow or suck (using a syringe) on the return line and that gets it working and reprimed every time. Other than that quirk it's the best thing since sliced bread and I can leave my tank for 2 weeks at a time without top-off worries.

It will reprime as well if you just tip the pump upside down in the reservoir while it is running, this will let the air bubble escape.
