OT: any chance Webber might return?

Unarce

Unshackled
I never thought highly of Webber, but the Kings suck right now. Perhaps a familiar face might infuse some of the inspired play of old

I hope not. He's damaged goods.
Lately i've noticed that the team does'nt listen to Musselman any more and i think that has alot to do with the losing record. I guess they are kinda like the Raiders, there is a bunch of trouble spots. :(

LOL, He won't help most teams... definitely not the kings who like to to run and need to play more defense

So, you guys don't think any of his 'finger-pointing' or 'unwillingness to shoulder any blame' would light a fire under the Kings?

I would love him to rejoin the Kings. He can still shoot and would open the floor up for our other shooters. Maybe no one noticed but after Brad and Sharif, we aren't exactly loaded with big men. KT is grossly undersized and Mo Taylor....well enough said! At 1 million per we could use Webber except that he will look for greener patures I am sure.

I guess they are kinda like the Raiders

Oh Noooo :eek1:

The last few games I went to (this season) the energy is just not there any more, Arco isn't feeling it at all. Musselman is sweet at getting DUI's though. :strooper:

I just dont think we need another "big man" that cant move. I havent been to any games this season but i can tell the energy isnt with the fans, just look at all the empty seats about halfway into the fourth quarter.
Deffinatly not a playoff year imo.

Well, Webber kindly announced his wish list:

Heat, Pistons, Mavs, Spurs, or Lakers

I can't see either Texas teams taking a chance on having him disrupt their ball club. Maybe Miami if Riley didn't have surgery. Maybe Detroit, since they'd be bringing in one of their own.

One person isnt going to make a differnce. I watched the last kings game and it looked like JR high Ball. They couldnt shoot, pass or rush the basket at all what so ever. They gave up a 13 point lead in 12 minutes. ?????

Karl:

Lakers are going to get Webber and pour salt on the Kings' wounds!!! C-Webb is a perfect 4 for the triangle. Smush, 24, LO, C-Webb and the "teenager"- don't think many teams want to face that in a 7 game series!

Yeah, I was just thinking how CWebb's passing might fit well with the triangle. That left knee is a huge if, though.

They're already over the cap, and would have to waive a player (likely Williams or McKie). Even if he stayed healthy, the payoff wouldn't happen until next year, since Webber will need time just to learn the triangle. By then, he'll be looking for a multi-year deal, which wouldn't be a smart move by any team.

Probably best to just wait for Odom and Brown to return. They'll be in top form for the Playoffs.

There was a time when Webber was the Kings. He had a few good years here.
Now he is a liability, especially on defence!! Not what the Kings need. They can't play defense with guys thay have 2 good knees.
The 76ers owe him about 40 million so the next team to pick him up can just sign him for a 1 or 2 year deal for a few million and everybody will be happy.............jsut don't let it be the Kings.
Anybody think Artest will still be here after the trade deadline?

Wow. I know that must suck Karl!! I have seen many of your posts where you explained your dislike for Webber.

IMO, he was great with the Kings and brought a lot to the table before the major injuries began to take their toll. But in his prime, he was by far the best passing PF in the game. Not the most clutch either, but he was good for a double-double just about everynight he played.

I hope he works out well in Detroit. But honestly, I'm so glad hes not a Laker. You're right, the knee is a big "if", but maybe he'll be a good fit.

Meanwhile, the Kings have a lot of work to do before they ever going to be conenders in the league again.

Cheers,

Jim

Hey Jim,

I was waiting for you to chime in:)

He's a very accomplished player, and even garnered MVP consideration for a couple of years with the Kings. I guess I just hold a much higher regard for clutch players that not only win, but admit failure.

It's a good situation for him. I think the chance to rebuild his image in Detroit was the biggest draw for him. With the Pistons having a team-oriented style of play, he should be able to fit in rather easily. Their basically a team of rejects.

Anyway, big wins for the Lakers and Bulls tonight, guys.

Karl
