Maybe instead of selling my kiln I should set it up to make some money for me! I've already got people offering cash for ceramic frag plugs and a shaving kit!

Is the black brush thing hollow and the hairs are pulled into it or glued? The other piece is a basic teapot form, basic handle, nice slow curves and a smooth lip on the "teapot". GOSH I MISS THROWING!!! lol

.......and a lot of them own birds.

This isnt my pic, but I guess I dont have any of ours. His name is Hobbs. He is an Indian Ringneck Parrot. And he talks up a storm, shakes your hand, and will give you a kiss and say 'thank you.'

Sorry for the hijack :spin3:

nope, we were talking about birds at one point...maybe we can get mike to make us a clay one and fire it up in Dan's kiln.....

Hey! It's still Jason's kiln. Though I really HOPE it becomes Dan's kiln very, VERY soon!

I'll be doing this if it does....:celeb2:

Of course, nothing against you Dan, but I'll be doing that if my kiln becomes ANYBODY'S kiln but mine...

party at Jason's......come on Dan...pull the trigger on the kiln. then you can rent out time to us artist junkies.....

no pressure, right!!??!!:lmao::lmao:

We're in discussions right now, I'm trying to finish a very expensive house project, so I need to sell some things and then it's a real possibility. If you could send me a pic or two, that would be cool.

When thinking this over before I was wondering how much a run would cost in an electric kiln, any idea?

straight razor shaving is a ridiculous hobby. the black stopper is where hot water is poured into. the shaving soap is mixed in the bowl and kept warm by the water. the brush is most likely horn and badger hair.

Does porcelain count. I do a fair amount of work on porcelain, particularly Sunday mornings......
i've seen your kind of work cully.<a href="http://s289.photobucket.com/albums/ll236/585jdunbar/?action=view&current=toilet.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll236/585jdunbar/toilet.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

about the same amount as a tanning bed. (ah hem.) you would see a spike when you used it. so if you are firing it up say, once a week...you may see a 5-7 dollar increase in your bill. multiply that by the times you fire it up.

Once a week is not really that healthy....ya know....:fun5:

Kat- How do you tan, you are an arteest and musician. We don't get nice bronze skin...haha. Well I do love the sun myself and I get pretty tan.

Back on topic. Yeah the kiln will run you about that much. It's just a huge clothes dryer that doesn't spin and will catch your clothes on fire.

To be honest though unless your profession is Ceramics you probably won't run the kiln more than once every few weeks to once a month or more. But if you get in to it and create large sculptures than yes you will use it often.

no one said an artist and musician couldn't have a great tan. and yes, the kiln will hardly impact your budget if you use it wisely. (like, i wouldn't recommend firing it up for one frag plug.)

If you remember highschool at all Kat....but then again. Musicians were the joke of my school, but it took it well. Large school where sports were HUGE and Band was eh makes it hard. But I played in SS1 at NYSFBC so it was always worth it.

oh shoot, Mike...i had the double whammy. theater and band. say it with me, now....GEEK......of course there was ski club...and jumping off of moguls like an idiot...breaking my kneecap...they kinda had some respect for me then.....
