I took my vacation this past month, driving down the Baja Peninsula with my sister to Los Cabos To visit my parents and just enjoy some paradise.

Great trip. On an aquarium note, I saw and swam over tube anenomes, A host of different fish. # different species of Pocilliopora in cluding one that looked identical to my Pink Pocilliopora damicornis. I also saw a Blue SPot Jawfish in his burrow.. The thing was HUGE. The head had to measure near 2 inches across.

On an non aquarium note... I drove a total of 2643 miles and took over 1000 photos. Blue/turquoise waters, sand beaches, rocky outcrops, wildlife, and alot of peace and relaxing. Then there were those nights at the clubs in Cabo or over at Shooters in San Jose.

Anyway fun trip. I am back and getting ready for the Coral Farmers market up in Fremont. I was happy to come home to a bunch of happy healthy and larger corals, with no problems to really speak of.

Nice pictures! I was just down there for about 10 days about 3 weeks ago. My family actually owns Posada Conception if you recall passing by it. It is in between Mulege and Loreto, the beach right passed Santispac ( I saw you took a few pictures).

Small world!

Nice... I am not sure of Posada Conception exactly but I know Santispac, and the beach due south is the one with the mangrove swamp in my gallery.. or atleast one of the mangrove swamps..lol.. Bahia Conception is an amazing place.

We stayed on El Requeson on the way down. That is a beautiful Double faced beach with a sand spit going outo an island. For now itis my favorite beach.. but hopefully I will travel more and find others.

On the ay up we stayed in a hut at Eco Mundo and kayaked out to the islands in the morning. I have yet to get those photos edited and posted.

How long has your family owned down there? My dad sells real Estate in the Los Cabos area. I am tempted to sell the store and join him down there... If only they had hockey rinks and played hockey too... That's all I would be missing.

Thanks for the good words and the response.

Todd

It's funny...though .. most Californians don't even seem to know how gorgeous it is down there and it is soooo close!!!

Beautiful pic's. I haven't been down there in a while. I was supprised to see pic's of San javier. Did you acutally drive back up in there? That's the second oldest mission in Baja which supprises me as to where it's located.

We went into the mission there when we were down way back when for the 25th running of the Baja 1000. Our pit was right outside of the little twon there. Awsome wood carvings inside by the indians that lived there back then. It was also amazing to see the worn down steps going up to the mission tower bell. They've been walked on probably every day for the last several hundred years.

A neat little place we found on our trip back north was on the Sea of Cortez side north of La Paz. As you head north out of twon, there is a dirt road that goes north on the east side of the penisula while the paved road heasd west. We wound up pulling off the road a ways up, about half way between La Paz and a Major fishing village that is on that road north of La Paz. Had a nice little isolated cove all to ourseoves for a few days. That is other than the eagle that came to watch over us each day. Awsome scenery and a good time.

I need to go back down again and rekindle my love for the area. I used to go down all the time. Mostly for the baja races or our own club race as well as a bunch of riding time. But since I moved farther north, I haven't had time to get back down there. :(

Thanks for the good words.

The road you mentioned going north out of La Paz is now paved all the way to that fishing village.

I really enjoyed the La Paz area, although I toured the islands East of La Paz and didn't go north.

You going this year?

The group I used to pit with is haveing a meeting next weekend to plan the trip. they are now pitting for terrible herbst. They started years ago pitting for Huskavarna. That's when I got involved, huskeys last year of racing. Wound up pitting for Kawasaki for years. When they quit racing, I wound up moving. The guys wound up pitting for Ivan Stewart until he retired and thne picked up the gig they have now. The main reason to go down is nothing more than watch the race from out in the middle of nowhere. Dump some gas and change tires if need be. ;)

I've seen some beautiful places down there by doing that. Our pit was always where no one else could go. Better like that. ;)

Every hear of the Baja Fools? ;) Stop in their pit for a drink, find Rabbit or Bozo, and tell them Butt Head from up in Oxnard sent ya. ;)

As for that road, it was a beautiful site riding dirt bikes down it back then. Pink rose quartz mountains on the left, aquamarine waters on the right. can't beat the scenerey. There was an old man from Santa barbara that had a house up almost on top of the mountain. It was a little out croping with a well even. Beautiful view from up there.

We spent three days camping on the beach out there. What a blast. We named it Fool's Bay. A bunch of the guys went back a few years back and said it hadn't changed. The Mexiacn "Navy" was there. After they figured out that they weren't smugglers, they all had a great time.

MAN I got to get back down there.
