Movin' on Up
When I was going through the dino outbreak, I had to do something to keep my sanity so I decided to make a dining room table for a buddy at work as a house warming gift. I finally finished it this morning. (It's all three or four-hundred year old oak except for the top - it's new wood)

Now all that's left is for them to buy some chairs so I can stain the table to match.

(He said that he'd come over and clean the shop when I'm done - I don't think he realizes what he volunteered for...)

Now I can finish:

the first floor molding
the basement remodel (painting, ceiling, molding, a little drywall work)
the sides of the hood
moving the sump and replumbing the tank
a new kitchen

Thanks everyone. I have about 40 or 50 hours in it but about 15 of that was spent planing the barnboards down into usable lumber - I REALLY need to get a bigger planer...

I still have to make a 24" leaf for it but that should only take 2 or 3 hours.

Wow, that's quite a bit of work. I remember using a planer, man was it not fun. Your buddy is very lucky to have a good friend around! ;)

Beautiful work. I would love to be able to do something like that, but last week I cut myself with sharp scissors. I cannot be trusted with power tools.

Beautiful!

you CANT use power tools!?!?!!

-- you gotta see some of my DIY projects, they would not be so beautiful without power tools. ask anyone, about my quality diy fish work with power tools.

nice table Mayoman.. looks like something that i could never do without some rought edges and lopsided legs :D

I don't like sandpaper for a final finish - I couldn't find a scraping plane at a decent price so that's a Sargent jack plane with a Lee Valley scraping insert. Next to/in front of it is a hand scaper for detail work.

Yeah, but it doesn't relly bother me that I can't use them. I don't have a lot of craftsmanship to start off with.
