Anyone here ever went to Florida for vacation? Which part of FL? Which Hotel? Any recommend place to go (LFS,restaurant, reef corals place...)? I am not go to Orlando this time so count out Orlando. Thanks for your help?

I lived in Florida for 20+ Years.

The best stores we had was WWC in Orlando, which you ruled out. The other one I drove 2+ hours for was in Tampa, and honestly I forgot the name of it. Fish and Other Ichy Stuff?

i just came back from orlando and went to WWC, and was very very dissapointed because I was there two years ago and the corals they had would just blow your mind away, along with there price tag, lol. I was expecting the same this time i went and there amazing tank display no longer exit in my opinion, quality has come crashing down, i belive it's under new ownership. Too bad it use to be an amazing place.

I was in clear water fl very nice and ate at a restaurant named fish bone. excellent !!!! and its next door to tampa bay.

Hey Mai, ive stayed at Orlando and Miami. Both were great places and full of LFS. If youre looking to exclude Orlando, Miami was great to me with a few fish stores scattered here and there, i stayed in Miami Beach which was beautiful and few steps to the beach. Wiz ;)

Mai, I never went there specifically, but I have been told by those who have vacationed there that the Florida Keys are the best to visit, especially for us fish lovers. Anybody who has ever vacationed at the keys should please chime in to give hotel ideas!

Oh and I didn't get a chance to comment on your thread earlier.... don't sell your clam!! you don't need more space for corals, that clam is the best "coral" you could put in that spot :)

Thanks electrodude, I went to Orlando long ago before I reefing so I don't want to go there again. I need to see the beach for relaxing. I think about Clear Water this morning.

Wiz, I cannot go Miami because I bring my daughter with me. Miami for Adult people. Is it right? Thanks anyway.

Julie, thanks. I will check FL Keys. By the way I sold the clam and bought a smaller but the color is beautiful.

+1 on florida keys, key west has snorkel charters going to reefs everyday and key west have the best bars and restaurants, good times Mai. Watch out for the large sting rays, they are always gliding through the reefs, thinking its feeding time. Have fun.

I would have to agree with you there, besides the beach it is pretty dull for kids. If you dont mind driving, my usual if i was up north was to stay in Orlando and drive out to clearwater to go to the beach as Orlando had the vietnamese places i needed to eat at and fun for kids  Wiz ;)

I only spent a couple of days there, but St. Augustine is fantastic. Wouldn't work with a child, but I loved wandering through the streets of the old town at night. There is an old Spanish fort, the Fountain of Youth, and A1 Brewery.

Fish and Other Ichy Stuff is in Oldsmar, Fl. Tampa/Clearwater area. Pretty neat little shop, loaded with corals and a bunch of stuff you dont find around here...

lots of bed and breakfast and hotels through the keys, too many to list but key west definitely the town to watch the sunset with a nice cold drink and restaurants, plenty of it and bars too.

+1 on Fish and other itchy stuff I used to help out there many years ago. John can be eccentric but he is extremely knowledgable and has some of the best livestock on the Gulf side. There is another store, not sure if it is still there, owned buy a guy named Pierre. It's more of a wholesale style shop but he has nice things and is only a few miles from Ithchy Stuff in Oldsmar. If you want to vacation in the Tampa/ St Pete area, try St. Pete Beaches it's kid friendly and there are great beaches and lots of stuff to do. As far as lfs, there are quite a few of them but those two I mentioned are the best. Good luck I hope this helps.

Sucks to hear about WWC. Funny I pulled a shirt from the closet today and it was my WWC one. I haven't been there in about two years as well. Oh well.
