guys,
i have a fresh water tank in the office and recently one fish is developing small white dots which i believe is ich. what's the best cure for ich? i hope to find something that's easy to dos and don't kill my 2 little shrimps. thanks!

Yes their is a product call greenx that you can buy at the fish store, its made for freash water ich. I think coper works in fresh water to treat ich also

99% of freshwater ich treatments will kill your invertebrates.. Anything that contains copper, malachite green or formalin... Put your fish into a qt tank by himself and treat with Rid Ich+.. Treat for 14 days.. Wait an additional 2 weeks then reintroduce him back into your display tank.. The life cycle for ich is approx 10 days.. You want to make sure you catch any that are in mid cycle.. The meds will not affect them in the cyst stage, they have to be free swimming...

The problem with treating ich with chem is that if you're not carefull with the dosage you'll end up with a dead fish. Catching the fish to QT will only stress them out and cause more ich. I'm more successful in getting rid of ich by just letting the fish fight it off and feeding the fish heavily with food that have garlic additive.

i have thought about the garlic thing as well but it really smells and the tank is in an office so i don't know if i will upset someone

Just let it run its course then.. Keep the water quality good with frequent small water changes.. What else is in the tank? What kind of fish is it? I normally don't recommend raising the temp. It does speed up the life cycle but it can also stress the fish more.. It will also make the ich multiply faster if the fish cannot fight it off..

Do daily gravel vacs and change small amounts of water.. That way you can vacuum up all of the cysts or spores that are multiplying... You can add a slight bit of table salt as well to help with the fishes electrolytes and to ease their breathing.

I have yet to lose any fish to an Ich treatment.. When I was keeping Discus I would raise the temp to roughly 90-92 degrees.. Ich can still survive at those temps but it doens't thrive..

You could always get a oversized UV. Usually if you get the size rated for your tank it doesn't do a very good job on ich.
