OT: HVAC help needed.

I know there was one or two ac techs on the forum.

Can you pm me if possible? I have a couple questions regarding my moms ac unit.

Outside condenser fan won't turn off. The cold line had ice or frost on it. When I went to the house the fan was in the on position vs auto.

Thanks

Sounds like a bad contractor that is stuck, or rather pulled in. Try this, turn the thermostat off, if it doesn't shut off then your contact is the problem. You can de-ice it by pulling the disconnect or if its newer, its a lever. Usually icing around that line is normal, its a suction pipe and it looks like the insulation is old. You'll prolly need a new contractor.

Same thing happened to mine a few months back. Mine actually had a leak which needed repairing. The pipes outside we're frozen and I decided to look at the unit inside and they were all frozen inside as well.

Thanks for the responses. It might be multiple issues. The air handler fan isn't coming on and was iced up. She's going to call ac tech in morning.

Yes, I believe its still under warranty and I am just spread to thin to try and tackle it. Tech said its the fan switch in the air handler. But it ended up shutting off again after he left.
