I know that if a search is done, they seem to be everywhere, but if you are considering the above address, and you have kids, do a search for that address here.... http://www.meganslaw.ca.gov/search.aspx

:(

Talk about invasion of privacy... I hate that law, its rude and intrudes on there privacy.

Im atleast happy that no Idiot has gone and killed one of them from that website, well none the news has reported.

Edwin you obviously dont have any kids! :p Rude!??!!?? How the hell do you think they got on that sight??That's rude! To say the very least!!

Whats worse? Being able to look em all up and know your surroundings a lil better to protect your family, or knowing the fact that even after unthinkable crimes they still have the " right " to live a couple blocks away from our kids' elementary and middle schools.

I have 2 daughters.... And as a parent its my responsibility to make sure there safe....

They have served there punishment, they did there time in jail they have paid there debt. But thats not good enough for some people. Now we have to put there name and faces, address and info on a public website, which entail makes them a target for harassment and crime against them.

Yes its wrong what they did, but they paid there price. If this is the case we have to monitor them all the time, like the guy that just moved to sacramento or maintain a website. Then they should still be locked up, if they think its that much of a risk.

SO yes it is rude they have the info up and it does invade there privacy. Let them live there lives.

Living next to a school is one thing, thats for the probation officer to make sure he doesnt, So make a law so they dont live next to schools and make sure the probation officers follow that law.

A website totally different...

If you guys wanna talk/bash/insult me about this please PM me, so its not cluttering up the original meaning of the post.

I honestly can't believe what I'm reading.

Child predators are for life -- it's NOT an illness that is cured by incarceration or punishment.

I don't have any children yet, but I do have neices and nephews ... and it should certainly be my right to know who these people are -- and most people in this country have agreed, hence Megan's law.

There is a reason that these peoples pictures and privacy are publicly disclosed, and that is for the reason previously stated.

Megan's law would not have been made law had most people agreed with this statement.

Nu2Sw -- Although you are entitled to your opinion (maybe you or someone you know has been somehow affected by this law), just know that your opinions are the minority.

Trust me if someone raped your daughter, or exploited her in anyway and that guy only gets sentenced to 5 years out in 2 on good behavior and I come and tell you he served his debt I would expect nothing short of a punch in the face.

I'm certainly not bashing or insulting you, but if you're going to make a public post about your opinions, everyone else is entitled to publicly state their own.

You're telling us that "I'll say what I have to say -- but if you have a reply, please PM"

Unfortunantly, a lot of these people report living one place and end up living somewhere else, so you really never know exactly if one is in your neighborhood or not.

Yes, I understand that you were not and thank you. I do agree with you its not an illness. Some people can save themself ( lack of a better word) and not do it again.

But what Im trying to do is have people do is if they were responding to me, which you were, was to keep it in private so it does not clutter the thread.

Justin, That last comment made me laugh. IF he didnt server his full term, Id be a lil jaded

You set yourself up for it. :D Don't give your opinion and expect people not to give theirs. If you didn't want to clutter up the post - then you shouldn't have started it with your post. :D

which is also very true... also consider the homeless... they just roam, no way to track them... So it makes the system faulty IMO

Back on topic ...

I work in Sac today, and I was going to do the rounds on my lunch break ... is there a store in Sac that I haven't been to?

I've been to:
Your Reef
Aqua Life
Coral Reef Shop
Exotic Aquarium
Pet Connection

Am I missing anything?

Homeless people do not represent the majority of sex offenders ... and the majority of sex offenders are not homeless.

Otherwise, you could also say that child support laws are faulty because there are homeless fathers.

No I didn't, I just said that I knew it would come up sooner or later after someone else brought it up. Don't blame me.

We should get rid of our justice system because it's faulty... There is no system that doesn't have it's fault. The question is how faulty is the system.

Leave Pico alone. Megan's Law is designed to protect kids like him. JUST TEASING YOU PICO!

------------------

Back to the original topic. If the OP was looking for a nice place to live - Davis is a very nice community. It's still relatively small. Great place to raise a family. The school system is great. If you look on Megan's Law, there aren't too many registrants in Davis. (Zip 95616). Commute to Sacramento isn't bad (about 8 miles west of downtown Sacramento). Lots of pizza and chinese resturant (what do you expect for a college town?).

Cons: Rent is a little higher than the rest of Sacramento. House price is higher than most of Sacramento. The town is full of bleeding heart, tree-hugging, politically correct liberals. :D Water is really hard (700+ ppm) - so you will go through DI resin like crazy! It has some of the craziest permits law.

I just heard on the radio yesterday that there are over 100,000 rigistered sex offenders in CA. Meganslaw is interesting to browse and play around with the first time you go on the site. I think I'm pretty safe as a high school male in a good neighborhood. I would think Edwin would appreciate the site most with 2 young daughters.
