OT: PEX Plumbing for the RV

While installing a new water filter in the RV I ended the existence of an already strained 90 degree elbow. I saw the strained connection when we bought the RV almost 4 years ago and forgot about it. the PEX line run pushes against the sink and strains the bend.

regardless I have never worked on PEX. last time at home depot I noticed a fair amount of sharkbite PEX fittings that looked easy to use.

should I go this route or do i need to get a crimp tool? I'm very careful about keeping the RV dry on the inside. I get worried about slip fittings :( The RV is around 40 PSI, when hooked externally I have a 40 PSI coupler on it

I have at least a week or two to fix, so nothing urgent, would prefer to take care of it sooner than later though :)

thanks for any tips!

Crimp is definitely the best but to be honest if its just one 90 grab yourself compression sharkbite fitting and cal it a day at 40 psi you will never have an issue. If your ever in the brockport area I could crimp it for you no sense in buying a $50 tool for one fitting

Do you ever get out to Buffalo? If so, I'd happily crimp it for you...

Sharkbites do work, but be careful with the Viton and if you use the Glycol water stabilizers; Glycol and some rubbers don't play well. Not saying it's going to fail, just check it out in spring a little when you re-add water.

PS: Did you ever live in Binghamton?
