Hopefully you find it Mike. I know exactaly how you would feel as I came close to loosing my setup a few times. Were you recording the flight at that time? I always recorded every flight, that way if it went down I could replay the video and try to locate some landmarks in the last visible frames to get an idea of where it might be.
Aside from being cold, it was a good day at the field. Got some good time in ... was nice to fly again.
It really sucked to hear about PAC shutting down. They're good people and they had good prices, and very convenient to have around. Now it's online for parts and Hobby Lobby for fuel. Bummer
Nope. My wife is going tomorrow and put an add in the local paper. I have put my FPV helicopter up for sale so maybe if I sell it I can get another plane. I think I learned enough the first time to do it right this time around. Expensive lesson though. :thumbdown
Well, I had some gift certificates from Amazon.com from Christmas so I ordered a Radian Pro and they took care of most of it. I also ordered a pan and tilt pod for it and another video transmitter to go on it. I am going to use it for search and rescue duty. I'm not going to go all out with this one with the GoPro and everthing though. If I find my other plane I'll have two. If not, well at least I hope I learned from it. Daniel Wee mentioned I could ask the guy who is building the Dragon Links if he could give me a better deal on one. I will ask and see but I don't expect much since he already helped me out once. It is almost like that plane was cursed or something.
Zach, I didn't have any info on it but if I find it I will definitely put something on it. I know my new one will have my info on it. I am also looking into different lost plane locators but not sure which kind to get yet.
I was looking on Google Earth and within a couple of mile radius there is a lot of woods here. It is very possible it went down somewhere that would be hard to find. I'm hoping some aerial searching might find it.
If you find your plane and want to sell the video transmitter let me know, Mike.
I ordered a GoPro today on eBay. Should be fun The waterproof case would make some interesting underwater videos / photos too ... maybe Bill will let me try out some underwater photography on his tank
Nope, I do have a new plane though. I am using a Radian Pro and am putting a pan/tilt pod from Readymaderc. I am not putting a GoPro on it this time. I have everything for it besides the Dragon Link RX. The guy who makes them said he would rush mine ahead and send it out next week since I lost my other one. Otherwise the wait is several months. I am hoping after I get everything working correctly I can look for my old plane.
That's weird, I got two emails that Zach and Brandon had replied to this thread and I hardly ever get any notifications from RC anymore. They both said that you guys were going flying on Saturday. When I checked, there aren't any new posts.
I got one from Brandon - figured he'd just deleted the post. ReefCentral has some of the slowest servers around it seems. Can't complain too much though, since it's free.
I would definitely like to get out to fly ... thought about going today, but it was cold and I spent a bit of time cleaning up and repairing the Ultra Stik. It had a battery incident and I had to replace the fuel tank due to a bad leak. I think that's what shorted out the glow driver, because after some investigation I found the entire front end was soaked in fuel underneath the tank. I took the glow driver apart and it had oil in there. But all seems to be well now and I'm too lazy to go anywhere
