OT - RC Airplanes

The whole upside down thing at the beginning messed with me...

Great videos, Mike. What was the warning about? Was it complaining about your battery voltage?

I got my eagle eyes thing today so I can use both of my VRXs for diversity. I also got a little pressure sensor that I can use for airspeed as well. As I understand it, airspeed isn't too accurate at the speeds we fly but it will be fun to play with.

Oh, ok, gotcha.

How about adding one of these to it, too...

:D

We could put a camera on the bomb so we can know exactly where it lands... setup a giant target and have at it! The Mini Ultra Stick might be a good candidate. :D

:D

I'm headed out to Smyrna tomorrow to do some FPV flying. Troy is going to be out there too so maybe we can do a tandem flight. I got my airspeed sensor hooked up so I'll be testing that out too.

Julie and I are doing an early valentines day tomorrow... we are painting our bedroom... Haha! So I wont be out there unfortunately.

Hey Rick... what's a Nepture Apex Lite? :P

Brandon

Are you painting it pink?:inlove:

We are going to try to make it pretty early and hopefully beat the wind for some testing. I'm hoping to make it before 9 at least.

Ha! I'm about to buy an Apex myself, I have to admit. :) My RKE is working fine (so long as I don't leave it connected to my computer), but with wanting to dim my LEDs, the Apex is a better value.

Just went a mile out. :)

Nice! I wish I was there! I need to go ahead and order the tail servo for my Mini Titan and get it in the air. :)

Well, I posted that from my phone so I left out quite a bit. I got there around 9 and nobody else was there so I started flying and went into the OSD settings menu and adjusted some things. While in the menu, the plane started to dive and I couldn't get it flipped out of the settings quick enough to save it. I ended up spiraling into one of the plane eating cedar trees. Luckily it was right beside the field so I was able to get a big stick and knock the plane out. It broke the wing saddle a bit and put some dents in the wing. A little glue and I was back in business. It tried to do it another time but I managed to pull it out in time. I think I am going to try and put my copilot on it to stabilize it a little in the wind. After I finally got it working okay I flew 1.01 miles out. :)

Haha! Those cedars are HUNGRY for planes!

I'm glad you were able to recover it easily and get it back in the air. :)

Brandon

Mostly.

After seeing Troy's Foxtech goggles, in another moment of weakness, I ordered a pair. The foxtech have an outstanding picture and built in head tracker. They also have wireless receivers in them so if you have a 2.4 or 5.8 TX hooked up to your ground station you only have one wire going to the TX. I really need to quit finding new toys. I will probably be selling some 900mhz stuff and my current goggles and head tracker. Hint, hint, Zach. :)

Yeah, the first thing I thought was I broke my rule and flew over the cedar trees. After thinking about it though I am glad it hit one of those instead of the ground. It was really moving at the time. It looks a little battered but that is okay. It still flies nice.
