OT: Ringling Bros. Elephant Abuse Vid

I couldn't even watch all of it. I know these guys have thick skin but this just seems so unnecessary. I have my issues with PETA but in this case the did provide proof of something that should never be happening.

This was taken from my trip to the Columbus Zoo. These guys are so intelligent, the interaction between mother and baby is just so amazing to see. In my eye's it makes the abuse that much worse...

I dunno . . . they sure are hitting them, and it makes a loud noise, but that could have been overdubbed, the noise. If they hurt those elephants why don't they react, at all. They don't. They just take it. Several tons of ****ed off elephant wouldn't have any trouble removing that bullhook from a trainers hand and doing as he pleases with it. It doesn't look pretty, but what if EVERYTHING you ever did was on video . . . ever spank your kids? Say naughty words?

I did see reaction to the blows, albeit not a violent one which they are capable of doing. While your right this was only a few moments of footage it couldn't have made the handlers look worse in my eyes.

We saw the circus with out little girl when they were in Charleston in April. They let us meet the elephants, among other things before the show. Those things had velvet skin. No scars, no scratches, no nothing. Nobody was beating those elephants enough to leave a mark, at least.

I don't want to tell you what to think, but I can tell you that the video was intended to make the handlers look bad. PeTA made the video, so they are naturally suspect in my mind. They aren't always straight forward or honest in their presentation.
