OT......spring...drag racing???

For the 9.99 and faster guys , who's excited about spending another $300-$500 on an engine diaper?
To be honest I'm done with Rt.66 and NHRA .
I understand safety, but some of these safety rules are out of hand,
recertifying a cage every 2-3 yrs, update bell housings, and the one that gets under my skin the most is the seatbelt harnesses, you have to be seriously kidding me how in the hell do those go bad every 2yrs? that breakdown from Uv is a bunch of crap.
Now this diaper rule, just another way for somone to make some kickback money. I'm not saying politics are proabably involed but I'm just saying.

I am about safety I just think that it is a little rediculous, I can see if everything needs to be relaced if you crash, but tell me how a $500.+ helmet can go bad if it never is really used ?
As far as 41 no thanks I wouldn't even think about taking my car to that ****hole.

the diaper rule stinks unless you need it so be confident that some day if you need it that it will be there . kinda like an 8 second door slammer that never throws his chute cause its to much screwing around to pack it every run but if he runs into problems he wont be practiced in launching his laundry and may have a worse mishap because he cant find the damn thing . i myself like the diaper only because it really can save your car if your flying and the enging goes south . seen a bunch of bad wrecks because they ran over their own oil and water that could of been avoided for $300/$400 bucks .i have 30k in my car and its a great insurance policy .vey tough to deal with in a door slammer though .

Very true! A few hundred dollars for a diaper could save your life and your car. Are you trying to say oil on the tires at high speeds isn't good?

My dad and a few of his friends are in Bakersfield at that race. They are helping someone who is racing.

i have been on the big end of the track two times pulling someone out of a completely demolished car that would have been saved with a simple diaper . yes they are a pain in the ars but they do employ these rules for a reason .our track has just installed jersey barriers down the complete track but before they were installed you actually could hit trees on the shutdown portion of the track . we never gave it a thought till someone died then it became an issue . the jersey barriers are now mandatory and they make the track so much more safe but tight as it could have been built quite a bit wider but that's entirely another issue .

I agree Diapers are great for oil that comes out of the pan or the lower part of the block , but what happens when a head gasket blows.
The diaper probably isn't going to catch much of that water at all.
The class I run in run more than 30lbs of non-intercooled boost and go low to mid 8's , so most of the time it's a head gasket taking a crap not the internals of the engine.

^^^ o-ring the heads and block. Problem solved. But seriously though. The majority of cars that run down the track dont run boost to worry about that. It more likely that a bottom end will clearance its self on it own then a head gasket.

usually the water coming out of a head gasket isn't such a problem but its the burst of seven to ten quarts of oil that gets a bit tricky when you are driving over it .

You really think that's all I need from keeping the head on by o-ringing the deck and having a reciever grove in the head? , guess again most of these cars have that done and it still don't hold up to that cylinder pressure.

If your internals are letting go, your probably detonating or your engine to death until something has to let go.

Really? have you ever had to ride it out with water on the back tires?
I agree oil is worse but still same concept. Just takes the track officials alot longer to clean it up.

I agree. Also head gaskets letting go a far and few between compaired to a rod letting go. If head gaskets are a big problem then what ever sactioning body you race with should come up with a saftey measure to help contain it.
