Fligger I really like the one in the pic. thats very very sweet.

HC I am singing everything I say just so I don't snap on people. lol its funny as hell my kids are like what the heck. they think I lost it.

I almost lost it on my son. and I came up with this little song.... it goes.... Please shut your mouth your arueing too much. I beginning to get ****** off. I beginning to get ****** off. I am seriously beginning to get really ****** off.

Well he shut up and did what my wife told him.

imagine your dad singing that to you.

then when he did what he was told to I sang to him again.

thank you very much. thank you so very much for doing what your asked.

he looked at me like I lost it.

its all I could do to keep from yelling at him.

my other kids started laughing

chantix does make you tursty as heck and leaves a metal taste in your mouth. I will let you all know more as time goes on.

oh they do not know what chantix does when mixed with alcohol or drugs. I don't think I want to find out either.

chantix does cost $160 a month also depends on what pharmacy you get it from. $160 is the cheepest I have found it. there is other routes witch I used to get mine.

My insurance has this clause. witch says that if the member joins thier quit smoking programs. they will cover chantix. of course you have to pay your co-pay..

My insurance will pay up to 6 months of chantix. just so I can quit.
it's one of those incentives that the insurance doesn't tell you about. you have to reasearch it.

also if chantix don't work my insurance will try another route. IE intravenis attempts.

chantix is not 100% what it does do is it blocks the nicotine receptors. and makes them think you have nicotine when you don't. pretty cool if you ask me.

there are side effects such as nausea, weird dreams, constipation, gas, vomiting.

I am hoping I don't have weird dreams. LOL.

I have a stop smoking plan that I taught for 2 years that will work in three weeks if you follow the 13 steps religiously. It doesn't require any patches or gum that's actually bad... I has always worked 100% of the time if youfollow the the daily 13 step program...

My dad has been smoking and drinking for the last 40 years and it is awful to see. Ryan, being a child of someone whose father smokes it is the best thing you can do! I know my dad will most likely not be around in 5 years and it kills me. I get into screaming fights with him when he gets drunk. It really is awful for your children. I know it is difficult, but do it for your children! I wish you the best my friend.

Quitting smoking is merely desire and mind over matter--trust me. If you truly want to quit, you will. You don't need any gimmick products to quit--just stop, just quit. That is the best way. It sounds to me that you really want this, so just do it! Good luck with it Ryan, you can do it, and you'll be healthier and richer for quitting!;)

My grandma, I think, paid like $60-80/month for her Chantix, and that was after her insurance. She had all the side effects except the vomiting and her weird dreams weren't on a regular basis. I think the normal length to be on the meds is about 3 months. She quit smoking and was only on the Chantix for 1.5months. She just couldn't handle the nausea and the sick feeling anymore.

this is not up for debate I am choosing to take the chantix. please be supportive of my decissions
No need to get testy---you started the thread, so expect different views! I smoked for almost 15 years, and decided to quit, so you know what? I stopped! Yeah it sucked, and I wanted one alot, but I just kept busy, chewed gum, etc. to get by the cravings. The only time I even crave one anymore is when I'm with friends that smoke, and we are all drinking. I took a drag a few weeks ago, and coughed, and it was horrid! Once you've stopped for a long time, it's NASTY! I'm just telling you how I did it, and how I got through it, no problems. If you so choose to use drugs, hey go for it, it's your choice. Good luck in any case

There is a giant error of logic in telling someone to just do something the way you did it because it worked for YOU--and therefore it will work for them. For example--It's like me getting glasses so I can read again. So EvilE, if you can't see either--is the solution for me to tell you to wear MY glasses with MY prescription and that will solve your problem? Life just doesn't work like that. There is no one size fits all advice for everyone, especially for smoking--different things work for different people.

"No need to get testy?" Come one!? Ryan is quitting smoking--perhaps you should stop expecting that he WOULDN'T be testy ! ;-)

If life were as easy as "you don't need drugs, just stop" then everyone would quit and there would be great happiness in the land. Perhaps it is a bit more difficult and complex than that.

And finally...Chantix is a prescription drug approved by the FDA, meaning--it has empirical, scientific support in terms of efficacy--not a gimmick product.

I tried cold turkey. I tried other ways. I want to try it this way. when I tried cold turkey I lost my temper on everyone. I just need something that will take the edge off of it so its not so bad. I have alt of stress going on. then on top of it I added quiting smoking to it. I need to do it. and if I keep saying there's to much stress factors in my life. then I will just end up sick. and wishing I quit and then dying. I don't want that. so at this point I am willing to try anything.
I can't imagine not ever being there for my kids. I have always been there for them. and now I have to really think about this and just do it. becouse I am no good to my kids sick or dead. I love them to much to put them through that. yeah I am scared as hell and grumpy as hell. and my body is freeking out. so I am very sorry for snapping

Thats the funny thing about nicotine - it doesn't take the edge off, it creates the edge. Everything in life that might create some stress or anxiety is amplified, or you just get anxiety for no reason - so you smoke. Repeat. Repeat. Its never ending. I used to smoke a little more when I had a project due, or presentations. I always thought it relaxed me but it was just the opposite. After I quit - it was amazing how the same things at work or in life that created angst - didn't anymore. But those people who think that cigarettes relax them or takes the edge off are just playing into possibly the cruelest of all big business' dirty little tricks. You make them rich, and then you die.

Its going to be VERY hard being married to a smoker.

addiction is a disease.....a beatable disease, but still a disease!

I am really working on my wife quiting too. I think its starting to work. becouse she nodded her head at me and agreed that smoking is killing me and that her smoking is only making it worse. becouse her second hand smoke is still there. :D

oh heck yes--you two must do it together!! It makes it so very much harder if you try to quit and she doesn't! You both should quit together, and support each other through it! That would help you very much! Also at $5 a pack now, think of how much money you will be saving!!
