OT- What do you do for FUN in Socal?

Hermosa Beach.... But I do like Bars and night clubs.. Hell I am single 32 and act like I am 21 so there is plenty fun to be had.
I do alot of hiking and one park not mentioned that is great to see with alot of trails is Joshua Tree National Park.
I have alot of hobbies. I Play and coach hockey, golf, hike, Walk down to the Pier and hit the clubs...This is So Cal.. We have it all!!!

Well, I arrest people for fun...but it's also my job! 
As far as non-job things - ever go to the mall and just people watch? I got bored while my daughter was shopping, and realized I haven't just sat and people-watched for years. People are very entertaining....
Now, if you have friends, invite them over for a poker game. Turns into kind of a party, but if you keeps the stakes low (5/10/25 cents), it's entertaining and a good chance to sit around and shoot the bull.
Of course, you could always go to the movies (several out right now I wouldn't mind seeing). You could also scoot up to Santa Barbara or Santa Maria/Arroyo Grande way and do a day (or two) of wine tasting... lots of smaller wineries around that you'd never taste otherwise.
Or, you could visit Solvang.... nice scandhoovian feel to it.
Lots of places to go... and things to do...

Not exactly accurate. Sea kayaks are cockpitted and Ocean brand is a sit on top. In terms of developing skills, paddling a cockpitted kayak is dry, comfortable and much more fun than your typical sit on top. You can't brace or roll a cockpitted kayak. Paddling most sit on tops is like paddling a bathtup or like driving an old vw bug versus a new Corolla. I have paddled every harbor in Socal and many up North. We have sea kayaked in Hawaii, Molokini off MAui, Mexico and Chile. I have 5 kayaks currently including a cockpitted double which is the most fun. Most people start with open boats for surfing and learning then move up to sea kayaks with cockpits. When i paddle, I use a carbon fiber paddle, lightest made which also increases the experience. SOUTHWIND in Irvine is one of the best stores to visit for anyone wanting to see boats, equipment etc.

Solvang is a small Dutch-themed town about 15 miles North of Sta. Barbara.... nice, quiet place.
There's SOOOO many things to do in SoCal.. definitely visit:
- Redondo beach... dine or have lunch at one of those floating restaurant
- Venice... watch the street performers
- Zuma beach... see nice chicks
- Watch a Lakers game in Staples
- Go to 10,000 LFS's in the L.A. Area
- Drive to Mtn High and Ski or Snowboard (yes in the middle of summer)
- Drive to Sta Cruz and go to Mystery Spot
- The best way to celebrate 4th of July (IMO) is to go cruising on Route 66 with your 56 Chevy with a blonde chick
- Go to Monterey Bay Aquarium
- Go to Scripps Aquarium in S.D.
- Go to Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in LBC
- Go to Old Town Pasadena
- Go hiking at the Hollywood Hills (the trail is about 30 FT away from the Hollywood Sign) You can take one of the trail from Los Feliz on Griffith Park
- Go to Griffith Park observatory!
- Picnic at Balboa Park Lake!!!!
- Go Canyon Carving on the PCH with your convertible
- Go to Lake Elsinore (you'll see the weirdest stuff there... like submerged lamp posts, underwater parking lots...etc)
- Go to Sta. Monica Pier
- Go to 3rd Street Promenade
- Go shopping at Outlets
- Stroll around Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills
- Go to "The Grove" in Beverly Hills
- Go to Computer Shows in Pomona
I can go on and on.... above all... HAVE FUN!

Here are three I've done:
1) A weekend at The Standard Downtown or the Biltmore. Sign up for an LA Conservancy tour of historic downtown LA, have dim-sum in Chinatown, walk Olivera Street and Union Station, catch a game at Dodger's stadium...
2) A weekend at Shutters in Santa Monica. Stroll 3rd Street Promenade and the SM pier. Rent a convertible and take a liesuraly drive down PCH to Malibu. Rent a bike or bring roller skates and cruise down the boardwalk to Venice and back. Have a late evening drink at the Casa del Mar or the Viceroy...
3) A weekend at the Roosevelt or Sofitel. Picnic and catch a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Hike the Hollywood Hills and/or drive Mulholland Drive. Eat at Geisha House/Blowfish/or whatever is "it" at the moment. Cruise down Sunset on a Saturday night, catch a movie at the Arclight, check out your favorite records at Amoeba and enjoy the cheesy sights and sounds of Hollywood...

I know Mammoth was planning to open until July 4th....I didn't know Mtn Hi had summer skiing.
Yeah, last winter they were hardly open. I doubt they are open now. Of course I have been wrong before.
Also, I don't think anyone mentioned going surfing. This is a great way to spend a few hours

I've always wondered if little home poker games were truly illegal, not that I'm 100% law abiding, just curious.
If you like the ocean, you might want to take some sailing classes. Orange Coast College has a GREAT sailing program with classes from beginner to advanced, and you dont need to be enrolled in the school. Check out www.occsailing.com
