OT - Where I was last week

Those were shot with a 30D so it's a very similar camera in terms of capability.

When I'm doing nature or landscape shots I use a tripod 100% of the time. It makes a huge difference in sharpness and it lets you use an exposure that's appropriate for the "story" that you're trying to tell vs. having to try and keep the shutter speed up high enough that you can't see the camera shake.

The first picture, for example, is 1/3 of a second at f/16. It would have been a completely different picture if I'd had to hand hold the camera and open up to f/4 or f/2.8 and/or crank the ISO. The last shot is a 20s exposure.

Wow! Amazing work Doug. :)
I've seen sunsets in many different places but that first image is just unreal...WOW!

Thanks Gene.

Here are a couple more from the same week. These were captured on my old RebelXT that's been converted for infrared use.

I used a bunch of different lenses on those shots.

#1 Tokina 12-24 f/4
#2 Canon 24-70 f/2.8L
#3 Tamron 200-500
#4 Canon 70-200 f/4L
#5 Canon 24-70 f/2.8L
#6 Canon 70-200 f/4L

Both of the IR shots are both Canon 24-70 f/2.8L

The reason I converted the 350 was because I've always liked the look of IR and after I'd upgraded to the 30D I really didn't have any use for it so I ripped it apart. :D
