OT: Xbox One or PS4?

understood and in use actually - running an acer aspire revo w/ ubuntu and XBMC and a logitech harmony one remote. It works great.

The idea here that Sony and microsoft seem to be missing (or hitting on but implementing haphazardly) is reducing the clutter of home theaters and all of the seperate components you need for a robust all-in-one device.

Think about everything in a home theatre: Blu Ray Player, CD player, HTPC for digitial video / mp3 playback, a gaming console / whatever you may use to stream netflix / Hulu/ etc.

Both now have a Blu Ray Player.
I think PS4 doesn't support CD playback anymore
PS4 doesn't have DLNA at the moment
XBOX 360 tried to implement m4v playback - but no surround sound.

I don't ever get first gen consoles but if I had to i'd go with ps4. It seems more exciting. I think they are both comparable it's really just what games your into.

But if microsoft ever releases this white xbox one i'm sold.

this version only went to the development team. I have both and really only play XB1

My xbox one has a lot of problems. Constantly freezing, problems loading games, etc. go for the PS4

If availability is any measure of which is better, it has to be PS4. XboxOne are always around. Have seen a single PS4 in a store yet.

Availibilty means nothing, one could of produced alot more quicker and got them out.

Sales numbers would be a better indicator, globally yes the PS4 has alot more sales( they've done MUCH MUCH better then xbox one in europe) . It is much closer in N. America though, and think XBox is slightly ahead there.

They are both good consoles.

Xbox One, why? because I feel xbox gives the better online/muti-player experience over the PSN. If I played more solo games than I may have went with the PS4.
