Our 210 upgrade is underway!!!

Yeah, it's a nice place to have near by. :)

Here is the tank on the stand. Closed loop pump will be here on Monday, so once that is all hooked up, it'll be leak testing time. Cross your fingers.

Didn't see pictures or forget if it was in the thread, are you going to plumb the two tanks together? Are you going to have a quarentine setup?

Both tanks will be plumbed together and share a sump in the basement. One return pump will feed both tanks. The clam tank will still have an overflow box on it because the tank is all tempered and can't be drilled.

Right now, I have a little 12 gal. for quaratine down in the basement.

The plan is to have a 24x24x12 tank as a growout tank which will drain into a 30gal. which will be a refugium and that will gravity drain back into the sump. Planning on having the return feed the growout tank as well.

well first... in new york city, we don't have woods :)

the cheapest one i found 800 for 180G with overflow pipes - AGA
but my friend said he can get me one cheaper by connections... let see what happens with that... but 600 bucks for a 210G AGA RR is unbelievable anywhere.. unless custom tanks

I have on order a 210 AGA with two overflows for $639.99 Petland Discounts. Queens, NY

Paul.

I got the drains and returns plumbed in and threw the floor. I'll finish that up in the basement when the sump gets down there.

And the return pump came today. :D

I was in Aquatic World this afternoon and the 210 RR All-Glass tank is on sale for $560.00. $500.00 without overflows. Might have to get one at that price.

You are really going to like the Sequence pumps. I have several and they are hands down the best pumps. Everthing your doing looks great, keep up all the good hard work.

Ereefic,
Beautiful tank.
I'm wondering why you didn't go with spaflex plumbing under the tank (for the drains and returns). It would have done away with all those 90 degree elbows there. SPaflex is very easy to work with. IMO, you could have routed the spaflex directly down from the overflows/returns, and snaked it to the holes going downstairs through the floor.

Another thing, did you purchase the AGA overflow kit, or get your own bulkheads? I ask, because I found the AGA overflow kit was very restrictive. Using their fittings was bringing down the size of the drains and returns from 1" to 3/4" and 3/4" to 1/2" respectively.
I machined my own fittings to make optimal use.. check it out:

I machined off the "elbow" from the Fitting-Thread adaptors so that I could slide the bulkhead's nut over the fittings (for future removal if need be)

Here's how they look installed:

Another shot (with plumbing):

A shot of the plumbing (using spaflex) during initial setup of the reef. The pump on the floor is a Sequence DART, used for the closed loop, going to 3 ReefRat rotating returns on the tank. The overflows and returns go to/from the sump in the other room.

The main reason I didn't go with spa flex is the cost. All though it probably would have evened out on cost from all extra fittings needed. Should be fine though as the return pump is most likely overpowered and the 90's will help eat that up.

I got my own bulkheads and made my own durso's, no way i'm spending $100 for 2 AGA kits.

Your plumbing looks very nice.

Awesome Eric,

I am really psyched for you guys. That 120 just looked packed......

Keep updating, I cant wait to see it when its done.

Looks great. I'm gonna have to come in and examine your plumbing a little closer. I'm designing a new tank also. Lots of plumbing.

One thing I noticed right away, it hits close to home right now. You have two 1-1/2" bulkheads going into a 1-1/2" Tee. Ultimately you are only flowing 1-1/2" down to the pump. If you put the same two bulkheads adapted into a 2" Tee, you could increase your flow.
I'm doing exactly the same thing as you right now into my Amp 3K pump, I'm wishing I had done what I just said which would increase the volume of water to the pump.
Just a thought.

All your plumbing looks very clean, must have been stressful drilling those holes. Not so much the act of drilling them, but the decision on the placement of them. I think about that sort of thing forever.
Hopefully you will have no regrets:)

I'll be watching,
Hef

hey stand look great but really would it hurt just to spend a little more one some thicker boards just for a better piece of mind.. i mean look at the work you did just to support the floor beams.. I know that would put a little thicker wood in that stand just so i could sleep a little better a night
