Our 210 upgrade is underway!!!

Thanks Steve, i'm in Janesville.

I guess Aquatic World is kinda hit or miss, but I think they do price match anyone in the area, but not totally sure.

Not to get off subject, but I see the brute water container in the pic.

Where is the best place to pic up a couple of them, ordering them would be high on the shipping.

Steve

I got my brute at home depot. You should be able to get them at any home store, hardware store. I had 2 cheap garbage cans break, the brute is the way to go, costs a little more, but worth it.

Clam Tank Has Been Moved!!

Clam Tank Has Been Moved!!

We cleaned out and moved the clam tank over next to the 210. Got it all plumbed up but didn't have quite enough SW made up. Should have it up and running this evening. Here's a quick pic. Still have quite a sand storm in there but the hang on filter with some floss is slowly clearing it up.

All the clams are taking up residence in the basement growout tank for a little while. Trying to eradicate all pyramid snails as we had them hard and heavy before. Hopefully can get them all taken care of so they don't haunt us in the new set-up.

Ahhhh...... Shoot Mark, you weren't supposed to see that. :p You were supposed to come down to check it out. Beautiful day for a drive.

Ereefic,

Let me ask you a question. I am setting up a 150gal aquarium for the first time. I have been blessed enough to buy the best of equipment and I pretty much wanted to have all of my equipment so I can save money since I am going to have a maintenance company maintain my tank until I learn this hobby. I have bought a RO/DI unit. I was told not only make my own water for evaporation but also make it for water changes (w/salt). What type of containers do you use or would you suggest I store my water in and how do you have your containers configured? I will not be running my RO unit into my sump. RO water will run into a container and from there I will manually top off my water. Thanks!!!

I use the Rubbermaid 'Brute' trashcans, they come in various sizes. I fill one with RO/DI and then transfer it to another can to mix up my SW and another container for Kalk.

Other trashcans can leach nasties into the water, go with the 'Brute' ones.

Nice looking stand...

Nice looking stand...

But sure would like to see some 2X4 uprights and cross beams for proper support.

Ereefic if I am going to mix my own saltwater and if I am going to do my own RO water, what size trashcans do you recommend I keep in my garage? (150gal tank)

35 to 55 gallons. Some of the ones with wheels leak, so check first. Also look on the bottom of the can. There should be a recycling triangle and the letters HDPE (High Density PolyEthylene. That's food grade plastic.

Eric, what wattage and type of MH lamp do you have over the clamfugium?

Just read through the thread from the start...Awsome looking tanks Ereefic!!!

What skimmer(s) are you using for this setup? I think I noticed a MR-2 and what looks like a DIY recerc skimmer. But please clarify.

GOOD LUCK!!!

So that is what it should say at the bottom and that is the type I want? Thanks

mmotown, I am using the 33 gal. Brutes. The local HD didn't have the bigger ones at the time. The 'Brute' container will have the word 'BRUTE' in black letters right on the side.

tacocat, the 'clamfugium' has a 250w DE in a PFO mini-pendant over it, nothing else.

bigdee65, the skimmer is an MR-2 and that's it. I will be getting an extended riser tube for it soon, which will make it the MR-3. I'm thinking I might need a little HOT skimmer on the clam tank as it seems to hold more nutrients than the 210, kind of like a nutrient settling tank.
