Our 210 upgrade is underway!!!

This is the softy/lps tank. With the high bio-load of fish in it, we will not be adding sps. It's great to be able to have multipule tanks :D :D

The baffles are in the sump. The refugium is now on the new stand. I used the old stand and cut it down for a little table for the skimmer and return pumps. (Which now has PVC on it)

I'm working on finishing up the drain lines from the tank to the drain box and down into the sump and also the refugium drain. We have our reef meeting tonight so that will be it for today.

I hope to have the return pump all plumbed in tomorrow as well as getting the lighting over the growout tank.

Here's a few pics of the sump area.

I got sidetracked and ended up putting the MH over the grow out tank. I make it so I could slide the light back and forth for easier entry.

I took a length of 2" PVC and notched out the ends, then cut out a slot along the length of the 2" pipe, but to the ends. I then put a piece of 1.5" PVC pipe inside of that, fits loosly and slides nicely. I attached a piece of 2x4 to the 1.5" pipe threw the slot. I then screwed my reflector and socket to that 2x4 and then screwed the 2" PVC, with the slotted ends to the floor joists above.

Now I can slide my light to and from me when working in the tank. Works well and all out of leftovers. :) It's a little 'ghetto', but it works.

When I need to work in the tank, just slide the light away from me for easier access.

When i'm not in there, slide the light forward.

Doh!!! Thought for sure my 'light slider' would get some comments.

Anyways, the sump is up and running. I'll get some pics up tomorrow of the set-up in the basement. Gotta lot of straighting up to do. Everything seems to be working out really well so far.

Your lightslider is very creative!

Actually, I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I'm setting up a 300g inwall right now and there is not a whole lot of room above the tank for the lights to be raised. So the lights need to slide back. I've been looking into pocket door hardware, but it's too pricey for my blood. Looks like I'm going to be building a couple of rails of Ereefic's Lightslider!

I have a few questions though:
Does any part of the assembly feel flimsy when the light is moved?
Do you think I could support an 8' long plank with 3 reflectors and bulbs using 2 or 3 Lightsliders?

By the way, I've been following this thread from the first post and have to say that the tank looks fantastic!

Rob Chuck, nothing about them are flimsy. I used pretty large pipe, so i'm not sure if smaller pipe will be enough, but i'm sure it would be. I'm sure you'd have no problem hanging three lights from them, but i'd maybe use small bolts instead of screws like I used. The single light weighs next to nothing so i'm sure screws are adequate.

I was thinking of using like a drawer slider, but I too didn't want to pay for it. Figure I had to have something around that would work, and it was PVC to the rescue. It's not pretty, but effective.

Tsalter, nice find. That would make for a very clean install. :)

Here are some pics of the basement set-up. If you have any questions or need better pics of anything, let me know.

Like the stand.....fine job....built one very similar 8 years ago....been watching this thread closely as getting ready to do a 180. Like the mega flo idea alot.....have a corner flo now that is great. Mixed feelings on close loops.....but will consider. If there is any should have done it this ways would like to know. Will be in touch.

Actually, I haven't tested it yet, i'll do that today. Should have plenty of room though. The sump has 45gal. of capacity left for any back drainage.

Curiosity has me now, what where the prices?

$75 for a 55 from pet world, $95 from aquatic world..

i was amazed as well...

looks awesome eric.

i was drooling over the 210 i saw today....but it was bare, and nowhere near as nice as yours...

i got me some new corals today from marine land pets on silver spring.. lil frags of orange zoos, and a lil bigger frag of orange mouthed blue centered green tentacled zoos.

never tried zoos before, so hopefully they do well.

so far so good

i dunno, all i know is that one of my co workers was calling stores for prices on tankss, and i over heard him and told him to try aquatic world. i gave him the number and he said that pet world beat aquatic worlds price by 20 bucks, and that the best deal was pet world at 75 bucks.. oh well.. since i wasnt the guy on the phone, i cant say what really was told to him..
